Witnessing: Part II

v A few weeks ago (9-21-03), in Witnessing I, we talked about how Jesus invited people in a simple way: “Come and See” – and how we should do the same. Today we will discuss some practical aspects to sharing our faith, and what things can destroy our efforts. Also…WHEEL!

v Remember Mathew 28:16-20 – The Great Commission: “…go and make disciples of all nations…teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you…” à Jesus commands us to witness, or share our faith.

ACCOMMODATE YOURSELF

Accommodate (Webster’s Dictionary) – to adapt or make fit or suitable; accommodating – adapting oneself to the desires of others

1 Corinthians 9:19-22 (The Message)

Even though I am free of the demands and expectations of everyone, I have voluntarily become a servant to any and all in order to reach a wide range of people: religious, nonreligious, meticulous moralists, loose-living immoralists, the defeated, the demoralized – whoever.

I didn’t take on their way of life. I kept my bearings in Christ – but I entered their world and tried to experience things from their point of view. I’ve become just about every sort of servant there is in my attempts to lead those I meet into a God-saved life.

I did all this because of The Message. I didn’t just want to talk about it; I wanted to be in on it!

1. We need to care about a wide range of people – __________

___________ ____________.

2. Entering “their world” does not mean we ____________

_________ __________________.

3. Do you want to be in on it?

UNNECESSARY STUMBLING BLOCKS

2 Corinthians 6:3

“We put no stumbling block in anyone’s path, so that our ministry will not be discredited.”

· Break this verse up and define every part of it:

1. “We”

2. “Stumbling Block”

3. “Anyone’s”

4. “Path”

5. “Our ministry”

6. “Discredited”
