Day 5

Workshop Dance (open-ended)

Song suggestions:

‘Children of the Cross’ from the albums Colours of Salvation or Extreme Worship by Jim Bailey

Divide the children into small groups with a leader in each group and give a copy of the lyrics for each one. Read Luke 23:44–49 and Joel 2:28, then come up with movements to accompany this song.

God is raising up an army,

Made of those who are still young.

God is lifting up their voices,

Through the weak He'll shame the strong.

It's been prophesied they will prophesy,

God's salvation they will show;

For the promise is to the children,

To our daughters and our sons.

Children of the cross,

A shining example,

Children of the cross

Are singing His praise.

Children of the cross

Are silencing the enemy,

Children of the cross

Are saying the Lord saves.

‘There is a green hill far away’ from the album We don’t get what we deserve by the World Wide Message Tribe. This song is best used with older children.

Divide the children into small groups with a leader in each group and give a copy of the lyrics for each one. Read Luke 23:26–49, then come up movements to accompany this song.

There is a green hill faraway

And it’s outside a city wall

Where the dear Lord was crucified

And there He died to save us all.

Can’t you see it’s over?

And can’t you see it’s done?

Can’t you see you can be free?

We may not know, we cannot tell

What pain our saviour had to bear

But we believe it was for us

He hung and suffered there

There was no other good enough

To pay the price for all our sin

He only could unlock the gate

Of paradise and let us in.
