Job Purpose
The People Service Centre is divided in to three key areas in order to support the business. Each area is managed by a HR Manager. Movement through the three areas is encouraged.
This role is part of the operational People Services team that provides a professional service to the Force. The main functions are to facilitate effective HR processes in designated areas, to provide case management and resourcing support to line managers. Reporting to the Senior HR Advisor, the post holder will have regular liaison with the wider People Services team in relation to operational matters that support service delivery.
Each role is designed to offer a range of experience to individuals wishing to develop a career in the HR field. To gain the maximum benefit from this role, post holders should be flexible in their approach to their duties and be aware that they may be asked to take on projects, differing responsibilities as business needs and their own development needs change.
Main Responsibilities
1. Policy – maintain and update relevant policies and responsibility for integration of and completion of impact assessment relating to equality and diversity.
2. Knowledge and Legislation – maintain up-to-date knowledge and awareness of employment legislation & ensure communication to the wider team and the organisation (using intranet, running workshops, training packages, update training and induction, communications etc)
3. Organisation Change Project Work – take an active role in organisational change and work flexibly in other areas of People Services to support development.
4. Business Support – provide support and case management for designated areas of the business and act as the point of contact for queries from stakeholders and escalated queries from the People Services Administration teams.
5. Integration of Equality, Diversity and Positive Action into core business activity – support the Forces commitment to equality and diversity and Positive Action to assist with mainstreaming.
All team members will be expected and required to work across different business areas as business needs dictate. Some of the duties will include;
1. Job Evaluation – the design of job descriptions for all staff groups, initial job analysis with managers; utilising the force competency framework and attending job evaluation panels.
2. Policy Maintenance – updating force procedures and policies e.g. Sickness / Flexible Working/ Maternity/ Paternity/ Adoption / Resourcing / Conduct / Grievance.
3. Projects - Undertake designated project work as directed, either alone or as part of a team. Research identified areas of concern/new legislation etc. Research, evaluate, analyse and prepare proposals for consideration as appropriate.
4. Advice – Represent the department by providing expert advice and guidance to line managers and all staff groups. (Including induction and training presentations, attendance at senior management meetings)
5. Case Management – Responsible for the management of cases in relation to attendance management, discipline, capability/UPP, conduct, grievances and probation. Dealing with escalated cases relating to Lifecycle and Resourcing including flexible working appeals.

Other Information
HR Advisor
Wiltshire Police provides a 24 hour 7 day a week service therefore applicants should be prepared to be flexible in their approach to working hours.
The post holder should have access to a vehicle or be able to make alternative arrangements to meet the requirements of the post.
Where applicable the post holder will be expected to wear a uniform at all times when on duty.
You will be required to attend all necessary and relevant training courses in respect of your employment to ensure compliance with the policies of the Force.
