The challenges of competing in a global economy and addressing the problems facing humankind will require globally agile leaders with strong technical skills. The Weidman Center for Global Leadership was established at Brigham Young University's Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering and Technology to help address this need. The center’s purpose is to help develop tomorrow's leaders by promoting excellence in the teaching, learning and practice of leadership in a global context while supporting the college's mission to develop men and women of faith, character and technical ability who will become outstanding leaders throughout the world.

Scholarship Details

The Weidman Center for Global Leadership will award six, half-tuition scholarships each academic year to students who demonstrate a commitment to developing global agility and/or leadership agility. These scholarships are renewable and must be applied for each year. Finalists will be contacted for an interview by mid March.

·  Eligibility requirements:

o  Must be a current Brigham Young University undergraduate sophomore, junior or senior;

o  Must be a full-time student (12 or more credit hours per semester);

o  Academic achievement of a 3.0 GPA or higher;

o  Must have completed or currently enrolled in ENGT 231 (Foundations of Global Leadership)

o  Must be a current student in the college of engineering and technology

•  Letter of reference addressing student’s capabilities including interest/potential for developing global agility and/or leadership agility.

•  500 word essay, addressing:

o  Professional objectives and life goals

o  Description of previous leadership and international experience (if applicable) and key learning’s

o  Plan for developing leadership and global agility including participation in international technical experiences (international internships or study abroad programs within the college) and how this scholarship will help you develop global agility

o  Other comments or extenuating circumstances
