The year 2016 may be remembered as the year public education in Wisconsin started to see shortages of teachers and administrators. Many newspapers and publications across the state have had articles of fewer applicants for most positions, salaries increasing at paces above inflation, personnel being “head hunted” by other school districts and it appears this trend will continue for a while. It’s the economic basics of supply and demand due to less people pursuing careers in education.

We have been fortunate in Cornell that we have not had a lot of staff turn over the past few years. Much of this can be credited to your Board of Education which has been improving compensation in order to maintain staff. A school is only as good as the personnel that work in it, and keeping high quality personnel is essential for a school, or any business, to be successful.

Thanks for supporting the Cornell School District this past year and all of the employees that work to provide a high quality education to the children of this community.
