A Season of Giving – Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center Staff Give Back
The employees of the VA Medical Center and Community Based Outpatient Clinics are embarking on opportunities to help those less fortunate by adopting a Veteran family for the holidays and many employees are also giving to a charity of their choice through the Combined Federal Campaign.
“The VA participates annually in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) which allows employees to have payroll deductions or cash contributions to a charity(ies) of their choice. This makes it convenient for them to give back,” states CFC Chairperson, Amanda Roberts.
Employees also give back by adopting Veteran families in need to ensure the Veteran and his or her family have gifts, a food basket, gift and gas cards for the holidays. “I have been organizing the ‘Adopt-a-Family’ program for many years through our Employee Association. We are blessed to have great jobs taking care of Veterans and having an opportunity to give back to them personally is what this season is all about. It is very rewarding and heartfelt to see the facial expressions and feel the sincerity of appreciation from our Veteran Families,” says Employee Association and Nurse Manager, Archia Jackson.
We wish all of our Veterans and their families a very Joyous and Healthy Holiday Season and wish them a Happy New Year in 2014 and beyond.
