Reason 1 for maintaining your system
• One of the most important things to do for maintaining your system is to back up your file because if the hard drive fails you would lose everything that you had and you won’t be able to get it back. So if you want to avoid that happening, you must create a backup file for your entire PC and save it as a backup file.
Reason 2 for maintaining your system
• Another reason to maintain your system is to keep it dust free at all times because when the pc gets hot it collects massive amount of dust, this can reduce its performance and also its lifespan. To prevent this from happening you can buy a spray filled with compressed air to blow off all the dust away.
Reason 3 for maintaining your system
• It’s important to check for updates and patches, because say if you had a problem with your hardware or software their might be a patch or an update out by the manufactures which include a list of what they updated or what software that they have patched.
Reason 4 for maintaining your system
• All computers must have anti-virus software if they're using the internet, because if you don’t there is a higher change of you getting hack and people seeing all your private files on your PC. To stop this there are some free anti-virus software's available such as the AVG software or the Spybot.
Reason 1 why fault develop in systems
• The optical hard drive data access speed for optical disks is slower than magnetic disks. Because it requires a more difficult drive device than a magnetic disks.
Reason 2 why fault develop in systems
· The system fan gets dusty in a while so if you don’t clean it, there’s a higher chance that it will breakdown and the system will over heat.

Assignment 2: Planning

Subject: Central Employment
Dear Manager
Central Employment is a company that helps people find jobs that they suited to. This company also keeps data of the clients. They match their data with vacancies, which helps the clients to find their job that their best suited to.
The company Central Employment has had some technical difficulties. The CEO’s machine had a fault of not being able to log in to the computer. The optical drives also develop some problems with the disc unable to read the data inside of it. The CEO is unfortunate that the computer takes a long while to boot up and he would like to increase the performance.
Central Employment is interested in upgrading their systems by having a hand written documents scanner into the computer database. Central employment would also like to be able to copy data form one optical disc to another by allowing the data to be transferred to the clients without extra paperwork. The company also needs some software requirements; they need a website so that they can communicate on an email. The third party is coming to install the Ethernet cable so I need to give them the switch and the router.
The limits for the CNN IT Consultants provide suitable hardware components or an external device. There is a maximum budget is £250. The company can’t have a wireless router right now so it’s got to be cabled. Optical Character Recognition is a scanner that can recognise the characters form a word documents. The scanner should be compatibility with OCR. The CEO is concerned that he can lose his clients data during work and you can’t take any of the work offsite.
I need to increase the speed of the CEO computer so that it can boot up faster and have better performance while using it. I can also increase the reliability so that it’s less likely to break down. Another part that I could increase is the capacity of the PC so that it holds more memory on the computer. The network requirements needed for the process is the switch and the router.
Assignment 2: Planning
Task 2:
Maintaining activates:
1. The first maintaining activity would be cleaning the system fan when it gets dusty.
2. Clean the keyboard and mouse.
3. Clear up the cables
4. Clean the monitor and desktop top
Tools and Techniques used:
1. Can of Compressed air: to spray off the dust on the system fan.
2. Brush: to clear the desktop and cables.
3. Screw driver: to screw and unscrew the bolts in the computer.
Hardware that can be Install and How to replace them:
1. Optical drive: the way to replace an optical drive is to open up the PC case and remove the old optical drive and replace it with the new one, would you plug it in put the case back on.
2. Optical Character Recognition: they want a hand written scanner that has OCR that they need to be installed.

Assignment Three - Repair and Upgrade
Task 1: Upgrade of at least two different internal hardware components
First before I opened up the PC, my task was to upgrade a least two different internal hardware components which were the network card and the graphics card.
After taking a look at my task I began by opening the PC apart, and then I had to wear my anti-static wrist strap and attach it to metal part of the computer due to static discharge.
The first component I had to take off was the clip to access the parts within the computers. After removing the clip, I started on removing the old network and graphics card.

Once I remove the old network and graphics card, I replace it with the new network and graphic card which I installed.
After installing the new internal hardware I had to repair the PC back up to what it was in the beginning. So first I need to lock it up with the clip so that the network and graphic card are secure.

Installing a printer as an External device
The first thing I did to install the printer was to find the Win Spegi6npsqp network and access the printer by typing an administrator password on the keyboard. Once I did that I right click my network and press add printer, as I did that a screen came up which said network printer and I clicked the search button and a screen came up of all the printers which I could install.
When I found all the printers that are available for me I chose the colour printer because I need to be able to print pages with colour when needed. So at this moment of time I wait for a few seconds for the download page to complete.
once I completed the download a screen shows that I installed the colour printer and there is a button in the bottom corner which says next and as I click into that another page comes up, which says print a test page which I did so that I can see if my printer works and it can send something. Once you’re successful by getting a print of your test page click on the finish button to complete it all.
