Tuition Assistance

Frequently Asked Questions

1. I’m unclear about part of the application. What do I do?

If you cannot find the answer in the instructions, please contact the PSAS helpdesk at

1-800-491-5320 or call Sherice Tomlin at 301-692-4884.

2. Where do I mail the completed Student Aid Form?

All applications should be completed and submitted online. Go to www.psas.org/3257.aspx to submit your online application.

3. Where do I include information about my special circumstances?

There is space available in Section L of the application. Please be brief in your explanations as PSAS is unable to process any attached letters. If you feel that you cannot convey everything in the space provided, please send a letter directly to Sherice Tomlin for consideration by the Tuition Assistance Committee.

4. Can I still schedule a meeting to discuss my personal situation?

Parents who feel that their family situation can be best conveyed in a face-to-face meeting are encouraged to call Sherice Tomlin at 301-692-4884 to schedule a meeting with Julie Hoover, Chief Financial Officer.

5. How do I know if my application has been received and is being processed?

Parents will receive emails and hard copy mails from PSAS indicating that their individual accounts have been created. To login into your account and check the status of your application go to www.my.psas.org.

6. Is my information given to anyone else?

Absolutely Not! PSAS does not share information with any other parties other than the organizations you selected on your application. When calling to discuss your application, PSAS uses a verification process to ensure they are speaking with an authorized person.

7. Will PSAS tell me how much assistance I qualify for?

PSAS does not notify families of their determinations. Recommendations from PSAS are used by the School as a part of the assessment process. The School will make the final determinations and send notification to the families in February 2015.

8. Can I appeal the tuition assistance decision?

Appeals will be considered by the school if there is a change in your family circumstances after you submit your application. Appeals should be submitted in writing to Sherice Tomlin and the family may be invited for a confidential meeting.

9. I’ve missed the deadline. What do I do?

Tuition assistance is allocated on a first applied, first received basis. Parents who miss the deadline may still submit an application. Qualified families will receive aid to the extent that funds remain available. Parents applying late will receive their decisions after the process is completed for timely applicants.

10. I own a business and do not take a salary on a regular basis/at all. How do I fill in Section F and K on the application?

Make your best estimate for 2014 business performance based on available financial records, since PSAS needs this information in order to process your application.
