TOWN AND COUNTRY PLANNING SUMMER SCHOOL: REPORT BY THE HEAD OF PLANNING AND REGENERATION SERVICES
1. PURPOSE OF REPORT
1.1 To seek nominations for the Councillors’ Summer School.
2. RECOMMENDATION
2.1 That two Members be nominated – preferably one from each Party – to
attend the Councillors’ Summer School as part of the Town and Country
Planning Summer School in York between 3 and 7 September.
3. BACKGROUND
3.1 Each year the Royal Town Planning Institute organises a Summer School for Planning practitioners and Planning based Councillors. This year, the venue is the University of York from 3 to 7 September. A copy of the Programme is
attached to this Report.
3.2 The Summer School offers an excellent opportunity for learning and networking and would be of benefit to any Councillor who has an involvement with the Planning process, regardless of how long they have been elected.
3.3 Early notification to the Head of Planning and Regeneration Services is
essential if first choice Study Tours are to be booked and the Council is to get the benefit of early booking discounts for travel and accommodation.
