Main Purpose of the Role :
To provide weekly mentoring sessions to a young people (aged 16 - 21 yrs) as part of the TurnAround programme.

Brief Description of Service to young people
As a Volunteer Mentor you will support the overall delivery of a new youth project in Berkshire called TurnAround. As part of it providing one to one matched Mentor support to young people with complex issues on a weekly basis over the course of the project. This project will be based at the Berkshire College of Agriculture utilizing the outdoors, nature and wild places to enable transformational change and the progression within these young people’s lives.
General Skills & Abilities
The ideal volunteer mentor will have a blend of the following :
·  Some experience of young people, but training will be provided.
·  Some experience of coaching or mentoring, but training will be provided.
·  Excellent listening skills.
·  Ability to work as part of a team.
·  An affinity with Wilderness and outdoor activities
·  The skills and resilience to manage challenging behavior’s
·  A good level of physical fitness (our activities include camping, canoeing, hiking etc)

·  An understanding of health & safety, risk assessment and safeguarding procedures for children & young people OR a willingness to receive training around this important knowledge area.
