“THE SIGNS OF THE TIMES”

“The Conversion of Israel, Continued”

(Written by Arnold Fruchtenbaum : Adapted by Tom Mooty)

(The Popular Encyclopedia of Biblical Prophecy)

At Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem thousands of Jews cried out "Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord" which is a Jewish messianic greeting based on Psalm 118:26. The Jewish masses proclaimed His Messiah ship as He approached Jerusalem; but their Jewish leaders refused Him! Therefore, Jesus pronounced words of judgment on the city of Jerusalem:

And … He beheld the city, and wept over it saying, “If you had acknowledged … the things which give you peace; but now they are hidden from your eyes. For the time is coming when your enemies will completely encircle and imprison you, and dash you and your children to the ground; and they shall not leave in you one stone upon another; because you did not recognize the time when God visited you” (Luke 19:41-44).

Matthew 23 condemns the Jewish leadership for a lengthy list of various sins; but two Passages stand out. In verse 13, Jesus holds the Pharisees accountable not only for their rejection of him, but also for leading the entire nation to reject him!

The second Passage, Matthew 23:29-36, is a little more difficult to understand: they would be accountable for the blood of all the prophets of the Old Testament. Everything that needed to be said had already been said at that time – in the Old Testament.

They had heard John the Baptist; and they had Messiah Himself standing right in their midst with all the authenticating signs. Nevertheless, they rejected Him!

Leviticus 26 had warned Israel of their being scattered all over the world because of their disobedience to God's Will, Their rejection of Jesus as Messiah was the “final straw”; but that same Chapter promises all the blessings to Israel (including the “Promised Land”) when they accomplish one thing:

If they shall confess their iniquity (singular), and the iniquity (singular) of their fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and that also they have walked contrary unto me … Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob … and Isaac … and Abraham … and I will remember the land.

Israel must repent of the one single iniquity of rejecting their Messiah when He was so clearly presented to them. Today, we have the same requirement to be saved – confess our sin of unbelief; and receive Him as Savior and Lord!

SAYINGS FROM “IMA SIGN”

Make Jesus your Valentine!

Those who “die in the Lord” only go through the “Shadow of Death”; not death itself.

By the way: it DOES matter how you live!

FIVE MINUTES WITH TOM MOOTY

The weekly columns in the Thursday edition of the Newport Plain Talk continue to generate a great many comments. Read the column this week for the title: “Faux Frog Gigging”. The columns can also be accessed on our website: www.webaptistchurch.org (click on “blogs” and select “5 Minutes”). Feel free to forward these columns to your friends around the world!

High quality (three-camera) recordings are being made of the Sunday morning services. These are available to you in either DVD (video) or CD (audio) format; and will soon be archived on our website. We are also getting closer and closer to the launch date for the live broadcasts of any and all of our services on the Internet. We also make one-camera video recordings of Brother Paul’s Thursday Night Victory Bible Class.

You are welcomed and wanted in our Church Choir. This ministry is extremely important to the overall “Praise and Worship” experience of our total church Gospel outreach. Music is clearly recognized by both The Lord and the devil as a powerful tool in the spreading of both of their messages! We are fighting a spiritual battle; and you are needed to get involved!
