The Tabard Theatre Company Presents

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe: November 5 –November 20, 2004

Classic C.S. Lewis’ story comes alive on stage!

San Jose, Calif.— October 21, 2004 —The Tabard Theater Company of San Jose presents The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, a timeless adventure fantasy.

SYNOPSIS: This stage adaptation of the C.S. Lewis classic story from THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA series is the only one authorized by the C.S. Lewis foundation and is written by award-winning playwright Joseph Robinette.

The story follows the adventures of four young people (Peter, Susan, Lucy and Edmund) as they magically make their way through a wardrobe and end up in Narnia, a world frozen in Winter by the White Witch (she thinks she’s a Queen). On their journey the children meet fantastical creatures like Mr. and Mrs. Beaver, Mr. Tumnus (a faun), Mr. Centaur, a unicorn, white stag, troll, dwarf, elf (don’t call him a dwarf!), Father Christmas and a host of other wonderful and mysterious creatures. But the most impressive of all is the majestic and courageous lion Aslan who has come to save the children and the creatures from the spell of the White Witch (Queen).

About the author: Joseph Robinette is the author of twenty-one published plays and musicals, two of which – “the Fabulous Fable Factory,” written with composer Thomas Tierney, and “Charlotte’s Web,” dramatized from E. B. White – are among the most widely produced children’s plays in the United States. He has also dramatized the authorized stage versions of “Anne of Green Gables,” “The Paper Chase” and “A Rose for Emily.” Recipient of numerous playwrighting honors, Mr. Robinette was awarded the 1976 Charlotte Chorpenning Cup, presented annually by the Children’s Theatre Association of American to “an outstanding writer of children’s plays who has achieved national recognition.” He currently lives in New Jersey and teaches at Rowan University.
