The Science Bag
Dear Scientist,
Congratulations! It’s your turn to perform a science experiment for the class. Please have a family member help you select a simple science activity that you can perform by yourself. You might want to search the Internet, visit the library, or read a science book to find the perfect experiment. Practice the experiment at home so that you will know exactly what to do when you bring the bag back to school. Your parents can help you practice at home, but you will have to demonstrate the experiment for our class without their help.
Good luck, scientist! You may keep the bag until Tuesday. Don’t forget to bring all the materials you need for the experiment. Have your parents fill out a “Lab Report” for the Famous First Grade Scientists” Journal. You may wear the special lab coat and glasses when you present your experiment to the class. Have fun!
Happy Experimenting!
Mrs. Cotner
P.S. Please check the “Famous First Grade Scientists” Journal to make sure you are not repeating another scientist’s great discovery!
The Science Bag
Inventory List
Enclosed in the bag are some special items to help you select and perform the perfect experiment! Please use the bag to carry any items you may need for the class demonstration. If you are using a messy material, please place it inside a sealed Ziploc baggie. All items will be returned home in your child’s backpack on the day the experiment is performed.
Thanks for enriching your child’s knowledge of science and experimentation! Please check the bag and send a note if anything is missing.
Happy Discovering!
