The Gratiot-Isabella Technical Education Center (GI-TEC), Mt. Pleasant Campus, in partnership with My104.3, is proud to recognize our outstanding Career Technical students through the Student of the Month program.

CTE instructors nominate their students based on seven criteria: responsibility, trustworthiness, exceptional character, good citizenship, initiative and leadership in the classroom, commendable work ethic, and commitment to improve the technical skills needed to succeed in their CTE program.

The selection committee at My104.3 chooses recipients and repeats the announcement on air throughout the month. They also provide winners with several gift cards and a beautiful commemorative plaque--all courtesy of area businesses.

Denise Arnold and Lisa Gatti nominated February’s recipient for her work in the Health Careers/Pharmacy Technician program………

Shelby is a second year student in Health Careers at the GI-TEC Mt. Pleasant Campus and a senior at Shepherd High School. She completed the Certified Nursing Assistant program in 2015 and this year has chosen to study the Pharmacy Technician Program.

Last year Shelby was one of the Top CNA students and was inducted into the National Technical Honor Society. She is a member of the Health Occupations Students of America leadership club and competed last year at Regionals, as well as States.

Shelby is a very busy girl. She keeps her focus on academics, but is also involved in Band, Model UN, Peer to Peer, Book Club, and LA Team. She is always willing to go the extra mile in the classroom when completing her work and assisting her peers who may be struggling. It is with great pleasure that we nominate Shelby for the My104.3 Student of the Month.
