Remuneration
The compensation and benefits package in Philippine peso will be tailored according to the qualifications of the successful candidate.
Specific qualifications for this position
1. Holders of a relevant degree in Special Education.
2. Above average graduates of reputable universities.
3. Preferably with minimum 2 years experience in a similar role of supporting students with special educational needs.
General qualifications for this position
1. Diligent and systematic.
2. Can work under pressure.
3. Keen interest in dealing with school children with special educational needs.
4. Work experience in a multi-cultural environment is an advantage.

ACCOUNTABILITIES / KEY TASKSAssisting the Learning Support Co-ordinator / § To assist the Learning Support Co-ordinator according to the specific needs of the child to be supported, under the direct authority, control and supervision of the Learning Support Co-ordinator.
Supporting the Learning Support Co-ordinator, classroom teacher and/or external professionals or
consultants / § Taking into account the special needs involved, to assist the Learning Support Co-ordinator, classroom teacher and/or other external professionals and consultants in helping the child cope as effectively as possible both in group situations and on his own, including but not limited to the following:
· To assist in clarifying and explaining instructions and in developing appropriate resources to support the child;
· To help ensure that the child is able to use the appropriate equipment and materials provided;
· To motivate and encourage the child as may be required;
· To help the child concentrate on and finish work set; and
· To meet the child’s physical needs as may be appropriate and required whilst encouraging independence.
§ To assist in establishing a supportive relationship with the child with special needs, encouraging his acceptance and inclusion, and developing methods of promoting or reinforcing the child’s self-esteem.
§ In conjunction with the classroom teacher and/or other external professionals and consultants, to assist in developing a system of recording the child’s progress.
§ To recommend and assist in maintaining the child’s progress records.
§ To assist the Learning Support Co-ordinator in providing the classroom teacher and/or parents with regular feedback about the child.
§ To liaise with, consult or inform other members of the team supporting the child regarding his progress when requested to do so.
§ To recommend and/or contribute to reviews of child’s progress, as appropriate.

§ To assist in the school and department development plans and their implementation. / § Where appropriate, to assist in developing a relationship to foster links between home and School.
§ To attend relevant in-service training.
§ To be aware of and comply with school and department policies and procedures, and to assist in the development plans and their implementation.
§ To be aware of confidential issues linked to home, pupil, teacher or school work and to keep confidences appropriately.
Special tasks for the assigned child / § To give individual/special assistance to enable the child to make progress in his academic work.
§ To manage the child’s behaviour in a firm but friendly manner by using encouragement and gentle direction.
§ To provide encouragement to the assigned child to try a wider range of activities.
§ To work with the assigned child on activities that will develop his fine and gross motor skills.
§ To help the assigned child to print and to scribe for the child where necessary.
§ To monitor the child’s interaction with his peers and encourage the development of child’s reciprocal social interaction especially turn taking in conversations and expressive language skills.
§ To broaden the range of activities that the child participates in.
Administrative duties
· Other related duties as directed and supervised by the Learning Support Co-ordinator, classroom teacher and external professionals/consultants, in accordance with school and learning support policies, rules, regulations and guidelines. / § To provide other administrative and classroom assistance to the classroom teacher and Learning Support Co-ordinator, as may be advised.
§ To assist the teaching team in ensuring that he behaves and conducts himself properly at all times and that all equipment used is specific to his activity and age group.

· Other related duties as directed and supervised by the Learning Support Co-ordinator, classroom teacher and external professionals/consultants, in accordance with school and SEN policies, rules, regulations and guidelines. / § To assist in the filing of classroom and/or department documentation, organising and maintaining resources, and setting up and preparing the classroom and/or school activities for the child.
§ To photocopy, laminate, sort, file, and assist in the preparation of resources for lessons to be used by the Learning Support Co-ordinator, classroom teacher, teaching team, and/or external professionals or consultants in addressing the child’s needs.
§ To attend daily and/or weekly briefings or as often as may be necessary and as chaired by the Learning Support Co-ordinator, to discuss with, be updated or to receive instructions from the Learning Support Co-ordinator on the discharge of related duties and tasks or to present, report or discuss the day-to-day operating concerns for resolution by the Learning Support Co-ordinator.
Other relevant tasks / § To undertake such other tasks relevant to the duties of an Individual Support Assistant that may be assigned from time to time.
