The 10 Point Marketing Plan
1. Research – What have you heard in the past? What have you heard recently?
2. Analyze Current Situation—What is the competition doing?
3. Develop A Goal – What do we want the end result to be?
4. Decide On Your Audience(s) – Who do we want to target?
5. Develop Your Message – What do we want to tell them?
6. Create A Theme – Can we summarize our message into a phrase or one word?
7. Review Budget – What do we have to spend on marketing/promotion?
8. Develop Tactics – What steps will we take? What can we afford?
9. Develop A Timeline – When will we do it?
10. Tracking/Evaluation – How will we decide if our efforts are successful?
Note: Your marketing plan does not have to be overly complicated. A few bullets or pages of supporting documentations could follow each point listed above—it’s up to you to decide what works best for your organization. But regardless, the goal should be to create a document that keeps you on target, on message, and consistent throughout your campaign, and ultimately delivers the targeted end result.
