TG700 CONFIGURATION GUIDE

MAINFRAME

The Mainframe contains the Front Panel, CPU, Memory for signals and Frame patterns, and the Power Supply.

It provides the Reference Clocks and Frame Reset Pulses to all modules.

Clocks: Two clocks are provided for three reference frequencies

·  54 MHz, used for NTSC/PAL, 525-143Mb/s, 525/625-270 Mb/s signals.

·  One HDTV clock that is switched between 74.25 MHz and 74.175824 MHz.

o  The 74.25 MHz is used for HDTV frame rates with integer rates, such as 50, 60, 24, and 30.

o  The 74.175828 MHz clock is used for HDTV signals with the non-integer frame rates, such as 23.98, 29.97, and 59.94.

Frame Resets: Automatic selection of 3 frame resets are used to support multi-format signals simultaneous synchronized generation.

·  Frame Reset 1: supports NTSC; 525-143, 525-270 and the HDTV formats with 74.175824 MHz clock.

·  Frame Reset 2: supports PAL; 625-270 and the HDTV formats that use the 74.25 MHz clock.

·  Frame Reset 3: has a relation to frame reset 2 and is used when frame reset 2 is already in use and the user selects a 24 Hz frame rate on any module.

·  The Frame Reset automatically changes between common multiple frequencies in order to provide the appropriate frame lock for the formats, when formats of the same group are selected.

o  i.e., NTSC +1080I/59.94 + 1080/23sf -- 2.997 Hz

Mainframe limitations:

·  Only one AGL7 module may be installed.

·  Only two of the high power modules, (AWVG7 and HDVG7), can be installed together in the frame due to power consumption demands. Two of the lower demand modules may be combined with the two high power demand units.

·  A total of four modules can be installed

Frame Pattern (Option FP): Provides 32MB additional memory for customer defined full frame patterns imported from Bitmap format with the Utility Program. Option FP only supports HDVG7, DVG7, AVG7, and AWVG7 module operations.

Can be added at later time with an upgrade kit, 040-1698-00.

MODULES

HDVG7: HDTV Serial Digital Video Generator

·  Provides up to four 1.485 Gb/s serial digital video test signal outputs in a broad variety of formats.

·  Two identical output channels are standard in the module.

·  With Option BK, two identical serial black outputs are available.

·  Up to 16 channels of 20- or 24-Bit audio sampled at 48 kHz may be embedded on the test signal outputs.

·  Only two HDVG7s can be placed in a single TG700 mainframe.

AGL7: Analog Genlock

·  Genlocks the Mainframe to a variety of Analog formats: NTSC/PAL black and HDTV tri-level as well as 1, 3.58, 4.43, 5 and 10 MHz CW.

·  Three analog black outputs can be configured as follows:

o  Black one can be NTSC, NTSC No Setup, or PAL.

o  Black 2 can be NTSC, NTSC No Setup, or PAL, or an exact copy of the tri-level sync on Black 3.

o  Black 3 can be tri-level sync or an exact copy of the black burst on Black 2.

AG7: Audio Generator

·  Provides 8 channels (4 AES/EBU pairs) of audio signal generation, (on 4 BNC Connectors).

·  Provides 2 channels (1 AES/EBU pair) of silence, (on 1 BNC Connector).

·  Provides 48 kHz Word clock output, (on 1 BNC Connector).

BG7: Analog Black Generator

·  Provides four independently selectable analog outputs.

·  The BG7 supports NTSC and PAL black burst as well as HDTV tri-level sync.

·  With Option CB two of the outputs can simultaneously generate various analog color bar test signals and SMPTE 318M 10 field timing reference signal.

DVG7: Digital Video Generator

·  Two identical serial test signal outputs provide 525-143, 525-270, and 625-270 format test signals.

·  With Option BK two additional identical serial digital black signal outputs are available.

·  Up to 16 channels of 20- or 24-Bit audio sampled at 48 kHz may be embedded on the test signal outputs.

·  The user can independently set frequency and level for each channel.

ATG7: Analog Test Signal Generator

·  1 Test Signal output for Composite NTSC or PAL (versions B, G, I)

·  1 Analog Color Bars output

·  2 Independent analog Black Burst generators with choices between;

·  NTSC Black Burst
