TEXAS TECH EMPLOYEE TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

EFFECTIVE SPRING 2006, AMENDED SUMMER TERM 2008

In November, 2005, the Board of Regents adopted a Tuition Assistance Program that allows employees to enroll in up to 3 semester credit hours at Texas Tech for the fall and spring semesters at no cost to the employee.

Employees not located in Lubbock may attend a four year accredited institution of higher education (amendment below) in their area and receive a $300/semester scholarship. The scholarship will not be received by the requesting employee until after the 20th class day of the semester.

This program, which is effective for the Spring 2006 semester, replaces the Employee Scholarship Program but does not change the Employee Dependent Scholarship Program. It applies only to the fall and spring semesters (amendment below) but the number of semesters is unlimited.

Effective with the first summer term 2008, the following changes were approved to the Employee Tuition Assistance Program by the Texas Tech Board of Regents:

The Employee Tuition Assistance Program was expanded to include enrollment and attendance in a degree or certificate program at a Texas Community College and such attendance is now eligible for the $300 per semester tuition assistance. Also, attendance at an eligible higher education institution during a summer term is now also eligible for tuition assistance as provided during the Fall and Spring terms. Employees outside Lubbock or attending a Texas community college are reminded that the forms needed to apply for the tuition assistance program benefits are found on the TTUHSC Human Resources home page which may be accessed from the TTUHSC home page. The forms must be completed and the requested documentation attached and forwarded through your local HR Office to TTUHSC HR Office, Stop 8100, Lubbock. Attendance in Lubbock at TTU or TTUHSC will still be handled through the respective Student Financial Aid Offices and the respective Offices of the Registrar.

Employees must meet the following criteria to be eligible:

□ Must maintain a 2.25 minimum cumulative GPA

□ Must be a full-time benefits-eligible employee of TTUSA, TTU, or TTUHSC

□ Must be in compliance with HSC OP 70.03 regarding employee enrollment

□ Must have one (1) year of continuous Texas Tech employment, at full-time benefits-eligible status, prior to the start of the semester for access to the program

□ Must be seeking a degree or certification, verifiable by admission status

Employees attending Texas Tech do not have to apply for the program. An automated process will be initiated by the Bursar’s office of the Tech institution they are attending. For questions, TTU students should contact Student Business Services at (806) 742-3272 and HSC students should contact the Bursar’s office at (806) 743-1880.

The process for employees not in Lubbock and attending a four-year or other institution in their area will be coordinated by the Human Resources office in their area. A certification form must be completed and submitted to the appropriate HR office with required information. The certification form is available at http://www.ttuhsc.edu/hr/forms/TuitionAssistCert.doc.
