Non-Copyrighted CoursePack

Submission Information

One of the USCA Bookstores valuable services to the college is the production of and sales to the academic community of custom published coursepacks that have been written by the faculty members of the University of South Carolina Aiken. In an effort to provide the type of service that is expected from the USCA Bookstore, the quality and submission of material to be custom published and sold must have a set of standards to insure the product meets industry requirements for professional publications. The following document will outline a set of policies and procedures for the submission of material to be custom published and sold in the USCA Bookstore. In cases where these procedures are not followed, the material may be returned to the author for editing and resubmission.

This section outlines the standards to be followed to request custom publishing that will be forwarded to the USCA Bookstore:

1)  Faculty members desiring to have any material sold in the USCA Bookstore must submit their material and request at least twenty-one (21) business days before the expected date that the material is to be available for resale.

2)  When material is submitted all pages of the document must be numbered consecutively to insure it is reproduced in the correct order by the printer.

3)  All material should be accompanied with a Non-Copyrighted CoursePack Order Form (see below) stating the following information:

a)  The name, telephone number and email address of the author of the material.

b)  Course Name & Number

c)  Term/Year, Expected Enrollment & # of requested Desk Copies (USCA Bookstore will provide 2 copies free, more copies must be purchased from the Department via a purchase requisition)

d)  CoursePack Cover and Color

e)  If divider sheets are requested; weight & color

f)  Printing Instructions

g)  Bindery Options

h)  If inserts are desired in a document, the color of inserts should be specified. In addition, please mark the document where each of the inserts should appear. In order to reproduce the best quality copy, inserts with printed matter should be submitted on white paper. Submitting material on color paper for reproduction results in poor quality.

i)  If documents will be printed on color paper, indicate whether the entire document should be printed in color or only particular sections or page(s). Each section or page(s) of the document should be marked, if it is to be printed in color.
