On The Trail To Success”

AGENDA

I. Good News!

II. Operational Information

· Storybook Parade- will be keeping procedure the same as previous years. Must keep the classroom openings clear (2nd graders cannot sit in the front of the doors of kindergarten classrooms). 2nd grade should not have parents to walk with the class. Suzanne will email procedure.

· Ten Marks- ice cream party today 9am-10am

· October 20th,22nd, 23rd

· College Week- email sent by Szima. On early release day, wear college shirts.

· Red Ribbon-The week after college week, is red ribbon week (right after college week). Each class will get a poster to sign after they read a pledge that will be given. There will be 1 poster per grade level- ask students to sign small so everyone can fit. Stickers will be given out to everyone. We will not have a day where we wear red.

· Honoring Our Heroes- November 13th in the cafeteria. Members of the armed services come and speak for the 4th and 5th graders, who will be writing letters to them. The top letters will be chosen to be read in front of 4th and 5th grade. Each student that reads presents a bundle to service men to be sent out to those “in the field”

· BAFS- at the moment, there is only one in January (possibly another in October). 3rd grade is paper/pencil, 4th is computer for reading only and paper/pencil for math, 5th grade is computer for reading and math.

· Portfolio- 3rd grade Portfolio was revamped and starts at the end of this month. Aligned to the CARE plan- proficiency on standards. Standards the students missed and remediation strategies for those standards will be given. More information TBA.

· Boosterthon- Sent schedule out on CAB conference- all teachers need to check the schedule to make sure that there are no conflicts. If there are, email Suzanne ASAP.

· Safety Report- Way too many doors are still unlocked. The doors leading to and from stairwells cannot be propped open since they can be a firewall (including the main stairwell). Maher will be asked to line up students outside of her portable so that side door will not be left open without supervision ~ teachers must be respectful of the start and end time of specials.

· Fire Drill- some of first and second grade classes will move to the grass area for all fire drills- see team leader.

III. CARE/BEST

IV. Assessments- Summative- given after instruction and is an assessment OF learning. Interim- before, during, and after and is an assessment FOR learning. Formative- during instruction and is assessment FOR and AS learning.

* Main Goal- How the children are doing in our classrooms. This information should drive our data chats and help to get our teams up to the standards and rigor.

V. Data Chats- find an assessment that could drive data chats. Use this data as a resources to enhance student learning. Teachers will highlight their strengths and weaknesses. **Use Ready books- reading and math. Suggestion: twice a quarter there will be an assessment that we all give~ these will drive our data chats. Sharon will talk to Dirian about creating graphs on our LAFS and MAFS date for RTI.

** Ready game with answers- 4 corners. Label corners as answers and have students work within their groups to justify the answer they chose.

VI. Learning Goals & Scales

PLC’s and Learning Communities- different from last year. Team leaders no longer have an instructional tab to see who is on our roster~ Sharon is the only one who has it. Need to make sure all team members are on rosters.

November 3rd: Visit from other schools and principals. They will definitely be going to K and 1 classes in the morning, and they will be here all day doing walk throughs, so be on alert!

K-3 RIGBY/ 4-5 FAIR ~ Must input scores on Basis 3.0. BEEP is on a platform that takes you directly to Basis 2.0. Must go through Data Warehouse (web/dwh/) for Basis 3.0 ~ login in is the same that you use Virtual Counselor.

~ 4th and 5th grade- Highlight the students you intend to place on a PMP on FAIR printout.

Due at the end of the month: Insurance, i-observation (pre assessment), RIGBY scores must be entered, child abuse survey,

Agendas will be shifting to be more instructional and less operational- more reading, discussing, and sharing. This will give more time for analyzing data to driving instruction

Ask Team: How many i-Ready LAFS and MAFS by Friday how many additional books are needed per teacher?

~ Can only write in LAFS, as of now. Cannot write in the MAFS books.

Go Math ~ Next Tuesday, 10/20 faculty meeting on math for K-3 ~ brainstorm questions. Team leaders will ask the questions on behalf of the team during this meeting. Already asked for problems of the day

Questions to ask: Will there be a new Go Math book to match the FSA?

Classroom Walkthrough Collection Tool was given for principals to indicate grade level, artifacts/student work/lesson activity, your rational, and administered? Results posted/charted/communicated?/evidence of decisions?

** They were asked to indicated the type of assessment given with this information

~Standards were written on a chart and students indicated how they rated themselves on a sticky note with their # (expert, apprentice, novice)

~Clip chart with 1-4 for students to place their clip on how they would rate themselves on a standard(s)

Nov. 3 – Cadre will be looking for a standard/goal in student friendly terms up on wall with paired assessments. Want evidence of assessments that they guide our instruction.

While walking through, cadre want to see rigor, standards related to formative assessments, if you are innovating with tying standards in with lesson plans, let Burgess know that she can show your plan book. ** see picture of possible walkthrough collection tool that will be used.

On planning day, we will discuss CARE plans, standards, and assessments. Burgess will be joining teams in their discussion.
