Reporting to: / NPU Partnerships Sergeant or Community Engagement Supervisor (Birmingham)
Specific Role Purpose: / To ensure a co-ordinated approach to providing support, guidance and resources to NPU teams and partners. To promote targeted, relevant and meaningful engagement with all communities.
Specific Role Responsibilities: / a) Environmental Scanning of Local, regional, national and international issues
b) Provide a central point for the NPU to develop Active Citizens through liaison with partners, neighbourhood teams and citizens, using a targeted approach
c) Co-ordinate and support and develop Key Individual Networks, ensuring effective and appropriate representation.
d) Co-ordinate and support consultative groups, inc. Watch groups, Independent Advisory Groups, faith groups etc.
e) Co-ordinate and support NPU staff engagement activities, to increase and develop groups
f) Through intelligence, understand neighbourhood typography to support neighbourhood teams to bridge gaps in engagement
g) Identify and promote new opportunities for engagement
h) Facilitate the effective dissemination of corporate information
i) Provide a point of contact for Corporate Communications
j) Co-ordinate the NPU responsibility for appropriate CTU Prevent activity, e.g. Project Griffin
k) Facilitate effective communications internally and externally through existing and future methods
l) Identify funding opportunities and support NPU staff to utilise as appropriate
m) Ownership and coordination of NPU engagement resources
n) Share information with partners, as appropriate
o) To focus delivery on Police and Crime Plan and Force and City Wide Strategic Assessments
p) Apply and evidenced based approach to problem solving
q) To comply and drive Force values, vision and ambition
r) To comply with WMP Code of Ethics
s) Evaluating and sharing best practise to maximise service delivery across the LPU in an efficient way.
t) To support local teams through effective management of crime reduction resources and equipment

Essential: / · Be able to use all Microsoft office packages effectively
· Be able to actively participate in meetings
· Proficient in the use of CORVUS
· Successfully completed web editor course
· Proficient use in WMP external communication tools
· To develop a degree of knowledge and understanding of other roles within the Partnerships team to provide resilience
Desirable: / Understanding of communication and engagement strategies
Understanding of and experience using Social Media and digital engagement
Experience of working in a multi-agency environment
Experience of funding applications
Hours of Work and Flexibility: / The hours of work are 36.5 hours per week. Core office hours are between 0800 - 1700hrs. There may be a requirement to work outside normal working hours, including bank holidays and weekends, by exception. There may also be a requirement to attend duty at short notice and work across the Force area.
The post will be based in the NPU partnerships office. There will be frequent need to travel across the Local Authority area and occasional need to travel across the Force area both within WMP locations and partner agency premises
