Taking Microphotographs with the FugiFilm Digital Camera:

Computer:

  1. Turn on.

Camera:

1. Find the image that you wish to photograph through the binocular eyepieces of the microscope.

  1. Remove one of the eyepieces and insert the camera.
  2. Be sure there is a memory card in the camera, shiny side down.
  3. Plug the power cord into the DC-IN outlet of the camera.
  4. Slide Power switch to the right.
  5. Be sure the mode dial is turned to the CAMERA-M icon.
  6. Press DISP (Display) button twice. This should give you a live view of the microscope through the viewfinder of the camera.
  7. Use the cable release to take a picture. If the PREVIEW screen on the camera doesn’t come up, hold the cable release in for a longer time.
  8. PREVIEW SCREEN shows on the camera.
  9. To accept your picture, press MENU/EXE button.
  10. To reject your picture, press the down arrow on the DIGITAL button. This will erase this photo.
  11. This is a slow process!!
  12. To turn off the flash, press the button on the top of the camera until the lightening bolt has a line through it.
  13. The camera shuts off frequently, causing you to have to start at (5) and adjust the flash again.

To save your Pictures:

  1. Remove the card from the camera and insert it into the card reader (shiny side down)
  2. On the computer, use right click on the START button
  3. Go to EXPLORE; go to Removable Disk E
  4. Open Folder IMFIDX10
  5. Give a unique name to your photo, e.g., Skinner 01
  6. Save to your flash drive or network space
  7. Send to Dr Skinner either on your thumb drive or via email. Reduce file size if necessary.
