THE CAMP

The 2010 Truro Fencing Club Summer Training Camp takes place between Monday August 2nd and Saturday August 7th. All facilities for training, accommodation and catering are on-site at Truro School, Trennick Lane, Truro, TR1 1TH. The camp caters for sabre, foil and epee.

The Truro Fencing Club Summer Camp will provide top-class coaching to prepare athletes for the forthcoming fencing season, and is suitable for all ages and abilities. Water, sports drinks and energy snacks (courtesy of Booker Cash and Carry) are all included in the cost of training. Dinner or Dinner/B&B is available – please see the attached form.

THE COACHES

Jon Salfield

Course Manager Jon Salfield is the Head Coach at Truro Fencing Club. Jon has been GB team coach at the World Student Games and the World and European Junior Championships, and has produced World Cup and World Championship finalists at Cadet and Junior Sabre. Jon was named Cornwall Young Performers Sports Coach of the Year 2007

Peter Frohlich

Peter is one of the world’s most respected sabre coaches. As well as GB Olympic Sabre Coach in 1992, 1996, 2000 & 2008, Peter was the national coach of Hungary in the 1980s, and has coached senior World and Olympic medallists. Peter now coaches the athletes on the TFC Performance Program, spending most of his time in Truro

Jean-Christophe Guibert

Former National Student Foil Champion of France, Jean-Christophe ran his own club in France for a number of years, producing many successful young fencers. Now based in London, Jean-Christophe coaches at schools and clubs around the capital, and is renowned for his dynamic coaching style. Jean-Christophe coaches regularly at Truro Fencing Club training camps

Kenichi Yamamoto

Former Japanese Paralympic coach (Beijing 2008), Kenichi is relocating to Truro in 2010 to lead the club’s epee and foil coaching. Kenichi was a successful World Cup fencer, and has lived, trained and coached in Budapest for 8 years.

Chris Buxton – Three-times GB champion, Chris is Lead Sabre Coach for Truro Fencing Club, and works on the development of the club’s young sabre team.

Paul Caine - Lead Foil Coach at Truro Fencing Club, Paul also has wide knowledge of physical training methods, and is a full-time science teacher

Mike Rogers - Mike is Assistant Manager at Truro Fencing Club, and works on development of the club’s young sabre and foil fencers, as well as with management of training camps.

GENERAL CHECKLIST

In addition to your normal clothing, please bring:

· Full Fencing Kit (mask, jacket, plastron, breeches, glove, socks, fencing shoes or trainers, working weapons, wires and lame)

· Outdoor running shoes

· At least 2 towels

· Lots of tee-shirts

· Running shorts

· Beach and swim-wear

· Sun-cream

RESIDENTS CHECKLIST

· Toiletries (none provided in on-site accommodation) and any medication you may need

· There is a laundry room available to residents

· Under 18s will be chaperoned in the accommodation block

· There is a common room for residents with pool table, table football, TV, DVD player and stereo system. Bring your DVDs, CDs and games consoles etc!

FURTHER INFO

· 2 litres of water (refillable) and 1 litre of isotonic sports drink are provided each day. If you require further sports drinks, please bring them with you

· Lunch, 2 energy bars and 2 pieces of fruit are provided each day

· WE ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PROVIDE ATHLETES WITH ANY MEDICATION (EG PAIN-KILLERS), SO PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN!
