Summer Handwriting Camps

Occupational Therapist Cheryl Rudd has been providing private tutoring for fine motor skills and print/cursive writing at many area private schools for the past 15 years. She has twenty-nine years of total experience, twenty of which focused on the school-aged child. This summer, she will again be offering handwriting classes at Parkview Baptist School for children age 3 through 8th grade. The children will be seen in small groups (2-4 students) for one hour. The camps fill quickly, so register your child now.

Camp Dates:

June 5-15 & June 19-29

July camps TBD

Camps are four days a week (Mon. –Thurs) in eight one-hour sessions.

Camp Descriptions:

Preschool Readiness Camp (age 3-4)

Kids Beginning Print (going into K or 1st)

Sensory Motor Print Class (1st to 3rd)

Sensory Motor Cursive Class (2nd to 5th)

Writing, Handwriting, Math and Legibility: Print (2nd to 4th, 5th to 8th grades)

Prior to the camp, each child needs to complete a fine motor/handwriting screening with Mrs. Rudd to identify areas of concern. She will assess fine motor skills, kindergarten readiness skills, pencil grasp and letter formation for print and/or cursive. This screening will help her to better meet the needs of each child and place them in the appropriate group. The fee for the screening is $30 and is due at the time of the screening. Please make checks payable to PBS and put “Handwriting Camp” in the memo. Mrs. Rudd will explain the remaining camps fees at that time. Classes can be worked around summer searcher and day camp schedules.

If you feel your child has difficulties in this area or you would just like to make sure their fine motor/handwriting skills are adequate for next year, please contact Cheryl Rudd. If you have any questions, you may reach Cheryl at (225) 931-8049. You may request additional information and/or register online by email at providing the information requested below.
