GT Tour Guide Application
2013

Thank you for your interest in giving campus tours at Georgia Tech! Tech Tours operates out of the Undergraduate Admission Office which is located in the Bill Moore Student Success Center. Our office cannot fully operate without the amazing time and effort our tour guides put in assisting visiting families.

Tech tours are available Monday-Friday at 11am and 2pm, and tours usually take about an hour. Tour guides are expected to arrive 15 minutes prior to their tour to check in. Each tour guide is expected to give one tour per week during school sessions (except holidays) and two tours per week during High School spring breaks, which is typically the last week of March and first week of April.

Minimum Criteria for Applying

1. The completion of one semester at Georgia Tech

2. A 2.5 cumulative GPA

3. Availability to give one tour a week during one of these time slots: 10:45-12:15 or 1:45-3:15 (Please provide at least two dates and times you have available for scheduling purposes)

4. Availability to attend the mandatory Training Session on Saturday, January 26 from 10:00am-2:00pm

5. Availability to attend mandatory monthly meetings on Sunday (2/17, 3/10, and 4/7) from 3:00pm-4:00pm

6. Availability to give a tour at Preview Georgia Tech on 2/18 and 3/29 (mandatory)

Minimum Expectations for Tour Guides

1. Tour Guides are expected to arrive 15 minutes prior to their tour time each week

2. Each week during their tour time, Tour Guides should be prepared to either give a tour or help in the office

3. Tour Guides are expected to look polished and professional by adhering to the Tour Guide Dress Code

4. If you are unable to give a tour during your time slot because you are sick, you are required to find a substitute by going through the procedure outlined in the Tour Guide manual. If you can’t find a replacement guide, you are required to contact Jayme Shepherd 24 hours prior to your tour.

5. If you are sick and follow the appropriate procedure to get a replacement Guide, you will not receive a strike. You will, however, need to make up your missed time by coming into the office to help with Campus Visits related work. It is your responsibility to set this time up with Jayme or Kathryn within a week of the tour time that you missed.

6. Georgia Tech Tour Guides operates on a three strike policy. Failure to fulfill any of the above expectations (tardiness, absence at tour time, missed Training Session, missed monthly meeting, or failure to make up your excused missed tour) will result in a strike. Tour Guides with three strikes will not be asked to return.
