WEAPONS CONTROL

Policy:

It is the policy of the Southside CS to prohibit the possession or use of weapons, including firearms, pellet guns, air rifles, knives or clubs (including toy reproductions) on any and all Board premises. This policy shall apply to all agency staff, individuals receiving services, and visitors. Possession of a weapon by licensed security or sworn - law enforcement personnel shall be allowed as needed.

Procedures:

(1) Service weapons are to remain in the possession of the licensed security or sworn law enforcement personnel, and staff shall be present with the officer for the duration of his/her onsite visit.

(2) Any employee, individual or visitor arriving on the premises in possession of a weapon shall not be permitted to remain on the grounds. Where there is a threat to personal safety, staff is to call 911 immediately and notify the Executive Director.

(3) Any employee reporting to work in possession of a weapon will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal. Any individual who knowingly violates the policy may also be subject to termination from services.
