French imperialism led to the expansion of the French Empire in Africa. The purpose of French imperialism in West Africa was to build their empire and to control the natural resources for their industrialization. The location of West Africa was ideal for the French due to his close proximity. Unfortunately, the treatment of the West African by the French was devastating to the local culture. French imperialism in West Africa negatively impacted the region politically, economically and culturally.

Japanese imperialism in Asia was an event in which the Japanese forcefully entered and took over numerous countries throughout Asia. Japanese imperialism of Asia began in 1894 and lasted until their defeat in World War II. Japan justified their imperialism due to their dire need for raw materials which were necessary for their industrial revolution. Japan felt this was the only way to combat European imperialism throughout Asia, and especially in Japan. Japanese imperialism in Asia is/is not considered genocide due to the severe economic, political and social impact they caused before and during World War II.
