Skits: Why people came to live in the English colonies of North America.
Read the section of your textbook on why people came to live in the English colonies of North America, pp. 102-119. You, or your group, will create a skit about it. The main point of your group’s skit is to explain why people left England to start a new life in the English colonies of North America in the 1600’s. FOCUS on a specific colony as a destination. You may choose one of the options described below to base your skit on, or your group can create another idea for your skit. If you prefer to do another idea for a skit you must first approve it with me. Here are a few suggested skit ideas:
1. Create a TV style advertisement that is designed to attract people to leave England and go live in the English colonies of North America.
2. Create a TV style news cast report on the people leaving England to live in the English colonies of North America.
3. TV show, short movie, talk show, play, etc.
4. Alternative: Design a storyboard with the dialogue of the skit.
5. Alternative: Design a brochure to recruit settlers to a specific colony.
Remember that your skit must take place back in the 1600’s in England and/or the colonies in North America. It must be accurately based on the information from the text pp. 102-119.
You will be graded on:
1. ____/8 points - Accuracy of information
2. ____/4 points - Creativity of skit
3. ____/4 points - Written script
4. ____/4 points - Presentation.
