Storage Capacity Grant Opportunity

For Iowa Food Bank Partner Food Pantries/Community Meal Sites - 2016

The Iowa Food Bank Association (IFBA), in partnership with Feeding America food banks serving Iowa, the University of Northern Iowa Waste Reduction Center (IWRC), and the Iowa Department of Natural Resource (DNR) is opening up an opportunity which will build capacity within food bank member food pantries and community meal sites. IFBA invites qualified food pantries and community meal sites to apply for food storage equipment through this grant opportunity.

Storage Equipment Grant: Grants will be awarded in an amount up to but not exceeding $1,000 for the purchase of an ENERGY STAR qualifiedfreezer, refrigerator, or combination unit.

Criteria for Participation:

  • Agency Partner must be an active member of one of the following Iowa food banks: Food Bank for the Heartland, Food Bank of Iowa, Food Bank of Siouxland, Food Bank of Southern Iowa, HACAP Food Reservoir, Northeast Iowa Food Bank, River Bend Foodbank, or St. Stephen’s Food Bank.
  • Agency Partner must be in good standing with the food bank at application time (i.e. not have past balance of 90 days or more, actively ordering each month, current on quarterly reports, and no issues on sight inspections).
  • Agency Partner must have been a food bank member for at least 6 months at the time of grant deadline.
  • Agency Partner must be a food pantry or community meal site
  • Agency Partner must not have received a Storage Capacity Grant from the Iowa Food Bank Association in the past twelve months.
  • Agency Partner must submit the attached Storage Equipment Grant Application electronically by 5pm on March 11, 2016.
  • If awarded, you will be notified by April 22, 2016. Your agency will need to purchase an ENERGY STAR qualifiedunit and submit an itemized receipt byJune 30, 2016. Within 45 days of our office receiving the receipt, you will receive a reimbursement check for the amount equal to the purchase price of your storage unit or $1,000, whichever is less.
