Convocation Notice-2017

Sir Syed College of Medical Sciences for Girls, Karachi is expected to hold its Convocation in the 3rd week of April 2017. The exact date will be notified later on. All the graduates of this college who have passed their MBBS/ BDS exam between 2016 and 2017 are eligible to attend the convocation. Degrees will be awarded to the graduating students and medals will be awarded to medal winners.

Registration: All those students who desire to attend the convocation are directed to get themselves registered with the Student’s Affair Section of this college by submitting Consent formand Registration Feeup to 10th February 2017 during working hours. They can also register themselves through our website/ emailby this date. Only registered undergraduates will be allowed to attend.

Convocation 2015, Pakistan

The University honoured 412 graduates at its 28th Convocation ceremony, held on Saturday, November 28. Dr Ruth Pfauhonoured the occasion as Chief Guest.

This year the School of Nursing and Midwifery graduated a total of 233 nurses, of which 21 received Master of Science in Nursing and 212 Bachelor of Science in Nursing degrees.

The Medical College awarded degrees to 135 graduates, including two graduates received Doctor of Philosophy in Health Sciences, 16 Master of Science, four Master of Health Professions Education degree and 96 Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degrees. In addition, Advanced Diplomas were also awarded to 17 graduates.

The Institute for Educational Development conferred one Doctor of Philosophy in Education, 31 Master of Education degrees and 12 Advanced Diploma in Education.

The high achievers were also recognized. AmnaQasim of the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme received the Best Graduate Award for achieving the highest aggregate score in the Certifying Examinations throughout the five-year programme leading to the MBBS degree. Afsheen d/o Amir Ali Hirani was the recipient of the Best Graduate Award in the School of Nursing and Midwifery for achieving the highest CGPA among the graduating classes in the BScN and Post-RN BScNProgrammes, havinga CGPA greater than 3.5.

As is tradition at AgaKhanUniversity Convocation, the University took time to recognize the distinguished service and achievements of faculty members. Professor AbdouFilali-Ansary was conferred with the title Professor Emeritus, while Dr Muhammad Memon was conferred The University Award of Excellence in Education.

The 22nd Annual Convocation of the university was held on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Valika Cricket Stadium, University of Karachi. It was presided over by the Sindh senior minister for Education PirMazhar-ul-Haq who is also the Pro Chancellor of the University of Karachi. The Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. PirzadaQasimRazaSiddiqui, and the Pro Vice Chancellors Prof. Dr. ShahanaUroojKazmi and Prof. Dr. Nasir Khan were also present.

Degrees, including 315 PhDs, were conferred on 9,766 graduates of University`s morning and evening programme. However, the number of graduates who received their degrees in person at the convocation was around 1,800. The convocation was held for the students who passed their BA, BSc, BCom, BBA, BPA (Honours), BS, MA, MSc, MCom, MBA, MPA and Pharm-D examinations in 2009 and 2010 and those who did their MS/MD, MPhil and PhDs in 2010 and 2011. As many as 102 students were awarded gold medals amid loud applause from students, their parents and faculty members.
In all 9,766 graduates were awarded degrees. They were 7,320 students 3,718 of 2009 and 5,602 of 2011 of different bachelors and master programmes, 131 MPhil 54 of 2010 and770 of 2011 and 315 PhDs – 125 of 2010 and 190 of 2011.
A significant aspect of the convocation was the conferment of doctorate of science (DSc) upon renowned urologist and director of the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation Prof (Dr) Adibul Hassan Rizvi in recognition of his dedicated services in the field of urology.
