Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your initial interest in our vacancy for a KS2 Teacher. I do hope, after looking at our website (www.sir-robert-gefferys.cornwall.sch.uk) and prospectus (available on the website), you will continue with your application.

Sir Robert Geffery’s School has 220 pupils, and is a Church School that converted to an Academy in August 2011. It is situated just outside the town of Saltash, off the A38, and enjoys a rural location, yet is very accessible by main routes. The school has very supportive parents and enthusiastic children. It is certainly a forward thinking school where staff development and training, as well as children’s learning, is prioritised. In 2004 we celebrated our Tercentenary, so it is also a school with a long history and many traditions. Our school, having been founded in 1703 after a legacy from Sir Robert Geffery, is still supported by the Worshipful Company of Ironmongers. They have always been very generous with their financial support so our school has a wonderful new building, is well equipped with interactive boards, an IT suite, laptops, I pads, school farm, resources and even a Pre-school on site.

We are looking primarily for an excellent classroom practitioner who can motivate children and make learning fun, and will be able to deliver an exciting creative curriculum. KS2 teachers teach Numeracy and Literacy in the mornings and ‘subject teach’ in the afternoons, so please state your particular curriculum interests and strengths in your supporting statement.

In June 2012 the school was recognised by OFSTED as ‘Outstanding’. It holds an Activemark, International Schools Award, Healthy Schools’ status, proudly flies an Eco Flag and is an Eco Schools Ambassador. The school has also gained the Artsmark Gold, Thinking School Award and Basic Skills among others. All school systems, practices and policies in place have been assessed, and validated by outside assessors.

In September 2014 we were designated a Teaching School known as ‘Bridging the Tamar Learning Alliance’, in partnership with Ermington Primary School.

As Headteacher, I feel that this school has a lot to offer the successful candidate. We are looking for an experienced and committed class teacher. Middle and senior leadership opportunities are available for suitable applicant. We have a young dynamic teaching staff who work well to raise standards and are great team players.

If you are looking for job satisfaction and an element of challenge, this is definitely the job for you. Visits to the school are very welcome, but if this is not possible, do ring or email if you have any queries.

Sir Robert Geffery’s has strong links with St Michael’s Church in Landrake.

Please include, in your letter:
