Professor Kevin Tan. Dr Tan was formerly Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore. Since 2000, he has run a history and heritage consultancy. He is a specialist in public law, international human rights, legal history and law and society and has published widely in these areas.

Halijah Mohd. Halijah Mohamad earned an LLB from the National University of Singapore in 1983, and was called to the Singapore Bar in 1984. She worked in Brunei in private practice for two pears, after which she joined the Commercial Affairs department investigating white collar crimes from 1987 to 1991. In private practice and owner of her law firm since 1992, her areas of expertise include family law, practicing both in Sharia Court as well as the Civil Courts in Singapore. Ms. Mohamad is the member of several organizations including AWARE (Association of Women for Action and Research), and the Singapore Association of Women Lawyers. She has contributed to legislative efforts related to women and Muslim law, and was involved in the drafting of 1999 Amendments to Muslim Marriage and Divorce Rules.

Moiz Tyebally. Moiz Tyebally was until recently a partner at Harry Elias Partnership in Singapore. As a member of the firm’s Corporate and Financial Services Practice Group, he has over 15 years of experience in general corporate and commercial law. His particular area of focus recently has been on Islamic Banking and Finance transactions.

After earning a degree in Business Administration from the University of Singapore in 1973, he went on to be appointed a Barrister-at-Law in 1976 and an Advocate & Solicitor of Singapore in 1977. He has been appointed Justice of Peace, and is a member of various Boards and organizations including the Life Imprisonment Review Board, the President’s Pleasure Review Board, the Board of Visitors (Visiting Drug Rehabilitation Centers), the Board of Governors, Madrassah Irsyad, and a member of the Law Society of Singapore and the Singapore Academy of Law.

Professor Mohan Mahdev. Mahdev Mohan is an Assistant Professor of Law at the Singapore Management University, Faculty of Law. He received an LLB (Honors) from the National University of Singapore in 2004, and a JSM from Stanford University in 2009. Professor Mohan brings considerable experience and expertise in human rights issues related to Southeast Asia, in particular Cambodia. Since 2008, he has been an International Civil Party Lawyer at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (Khmer Rouge Tribunal.) His areas of expertise include Business & Human Rights, State-building & Rule of Law, and the Administration of Criminal Justice in Singapore.

Cynthia Morel. Ms. Morel has served as both legal officer and senior legal advisor to Minority Rights Group International and the Open Society Justice Initiative. In those capacities, she litigated landmark cases before the African Commission on Human and Peoples Rights (Endorois Welfare Council v Kenya) and the European Court of Human Rights' Grand Chamber (Finci v Bosnia Herzegovina). She has also supported litigation before the Inter-American Court and the UN Treaty Bodies. Ms Morel has additionally served as a lecturer at the University of Essex, where she founded an inter-disciplinary human rights clinic, and as a guest lecturer at the London School of Economics. Ms Morel is an advisory member to the International Committee of the Law Society of England and Wales.

Professor Daniel Puchniak. Dan W. Puchniak teaches at the National University of Singapore, law faculty. He specializes in company law with an emphasis on comparative corporate law in East Asia - particularly Singapore and Japan. Prior to entering academia, Professor Puchniak worked as a corporate commercial litigator representing multinational companies at a top-tier Canadian law firm. He has published widely on comparative and Japanese corporate law and governance and is regularly invited to present his scholarship and lecture at leading law schools in Japan, South Korea, Mongolia, Australia, the US and Canada. He is the past recipient of numerous academic awards including the Jean and Joseph McCombe Memorial Prize for placing first in his Bachelor of Arts Degree and the Japanese Monbukagakusho Scholarship for the completion of his LLM and LLD. Professor Puchniak is currently the ASEAN Convener for the Australian Network for Japanese Law.

Professor Stephen Phua. Associate Professor Phua teaches Income Tax, Goods and Services Tax, Corporate Taxation, International Tax Law and Business & Finance for Lawyers in the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore.

Professor Arun Thiruvengadam. Assistant Professor Arun Thiruvengadam obtained his formal legal education from the National Law School, Bangalore and New York University School of Law (LL.M, 2002, J.S.D., 2007). After completing his undergraduate education in 1995, he served as a law clerk to Chief Justice A.M. Ahmadi at the Supreme Court of India for eighteen months. Between 1997 and 1999, he practiced in the fields of administrative, constitutional and commercial law before the High Court of Delhi and the Supreme Court of India. He has been a Research and Teaching Fellow at the National Law School (1999-2001), as well as at the Global Public Service Law Project at NYU School of Law (2003-05).
