September
September has been a fun month. The kids have loved using the iPads and Angry Birds. We also selected NFL football teams to cheer for, be prepared to hear some smack talk. Reviewing football scores has been a great activity for working on number identification skills and an introduction to the concept of base ten. Our class began community skills this month. We recently took a trip to Petsmart where each student was able to purchase a fish for our classroom aquarium. The good news is that after 24 hours we still have 4 fish! We are looking forward to our Read All Day/ Pajama Day this Friday with Ms. Rose’s class. We plan to read several books and have a fun activity to accompany each book.
October
We hope to have lots of fun in October. We will be studying outer space and learning about the solar system. In math we are focusing on using the dollar plus strategy to make purchases. When using the dollar plus strategy we are working on identifying the price and counting out the amount of dollars stated and then adding one more dollar if there are numbers after the decimal point. We will also learn more about the United States government and the election process.
