B. Cuyahoga County Fatal Crash Review for 2013 (see attached):
1. Impaired driving still a problem
2. Nearly ½ of the drivers who were tested for alcohol were .1 and above
3. None of the 3 motorcyclists who were killed were wearing a helmet
4. Fewer than 1 in 3 of the people killed in motor vehicles were restrained (31%). 12 of those people were thrown out of their vehicle completely or partially.

A. St. Patrick’s Day
1. Outreach and Media: Jen will be sending you an email with a press release, social media copy and ad units

b) Please get the word out and then send screen shots or links to us
2. Buzzard Army/Safe Rides Partnership – will begin on February 24 for all Loyal Listeners 21 and over for WGAR, WMMS and KISS-FM.
a) Loyal Listeners will receive an email asking them how they will party responsibly on St. Patrick’s Day.
I made my own luck and planned a safe way home. This St. Patrick’s Day I’ll be (select one):· Calling a cab
· Taking the bus/rapid
· Using a designated driver
· Crashing where I party
· The designated driver
b) Once they’ve answered, they receive a code for 5,000 Loyal Listener points and are entered to win a $100 gift card to Barley House and Ace Taxi vouchers.
c) They can also answer a “Safe Rides” trivia question an additional 1,000 points.
d) At the end of the promotion, everyone who participates will receive an email from us with a survey. If they complete the survey they will be entered to win Cavs tickets provided by House of LaRose.

B. Training:
1. ODOT’s GIS Crash Analysis Tool (GCAT) Training for local agencies. Registration taking place now.
a) March 11, 2014, 9 am—2 pm, ODOT District 12 Office – Computer Training Rm (1st Floor) 5500 Transportation Blvd., Garfield Hts., OH 44125
b) CGAT is an easy to use tool that provides a convenient way to search Ohio’s crash data then download and analyze it using an Excel Crash Analysis Module. The class will prepare you prepare reports as specific as a particular road or intersection. Each session will include hands-on use of the GCAT & CAM Tool software.
2. Cops in Court – officer trial preparation, testimony and evidence in OVI cases. This new class for law enforcement officers will help the officers feel more comfortable when testifying in court on DUI cases.Additional training opportunities around Ohio in 2014 will be posted as they become available.

3. Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) Training
a) ARIDE provides officers with knowledge related to drug impaired driving and promotes the use of Drug Recognition Experts (DRE). ARIDE also stresses the importance of securing the most appropriate biological sample to identify substances likely causing impairment.
b) Students wishing to attend ARIDE training must have completed an ADAP/SFST course and be able to demonstrate SFST proficiency.
c) March potential dates: March 20—21 in Euclid (confirmation pending)
4. OVI Legal Update: ???
a) Do we want/need one?
b) Can we do it in August as our kick-off for the DSoGPO mobilization?
c) Location: one of the stadiums to tie in responsible beverage service?

2. The best way to ensure that we are successful in reducing alcohol related crashes in our community and pass the State’s and NHTSA’s audit is to:
a) Communicate grant goals to your administration
b) Communicate grant and productivity goals to officers conducting the paid and in-kind enforcement efforts
c) Review all reports from officers to ensure accuracy in reporting
IV. FFY 2014 SRAD/OVI Task Force Meetings: FFY14 grants do not allow us to purchase food with grant funds. We would appreciate it if you would be willing to find a vendor or sponsor to donate lunch when you host a meeting.
