2013 WIRE (Women Involved in Rural Electrification) SCHOLARSHIP
The WIRE Scholarship will award two $1,000 scholarships to be used at an accredited university, junior
college or technical college of the recipient’s choice. The applicant must be the dependent of a member-owner
of Pee Dee Electric. See your counselor for an application.

SOUTH Carolina State Fair Scholarship
Fifty (50) selected seniors will be awarded $2,000 scholarships to be applied toward post high school education or training in a South Carolina university, college or technical college.
Eligibility:
Applicant must:
Ø be a full time resident of SC and a senior in a public or private school in SC
Ø must plan to attend a public or private college, university or technical college in the state of SC

SUSAN JOHNSON MEMORIAL FUND
A scholarship grant in the amount of $4,000 will be awarded annually to a former graduate of St. John’s High School, a graduate or former graduate of Darlington High School, from the Darlington Area Attendance Zone of Mayo High School for Math, Science, and Technology, Trinity Collegiate School and James F. Byrnes Academy who intends to pursue further education or training leading to a career in health care. Applications are in guidance.

SUSAN JOHNSON MEMORIAL FUND (Loans)
The Susan Johnson Memorial Fund makes loans to aid deserving young people in the Darlington area in financing general college and nursing educations. These loans are not limited to those intending to pursue a career in health care. The loans are highly favorable, with no interest being charged while in school, and interest at 3% after graduation or leaving school.

All graduating seniors may apply. Must have SAT and/or ACT scores. Applications can be picked up from
the guidance office.

BOBBY CHAPMAN JUNIOR GOLF FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Bobby Chapman Scholarship is to be awarded to a student who is a graduate (or soon will be) of a secondary school in the Southeastern United States and or participate in a prior Bobby Chapman Invitational. Two scholarship awards in the amounts of $5,000 and $2,500 will be given to selected applicants who participate in the scholarship competition. Applications are available in guidance.

GEORGE ROGERS FOUNDATION OF THE CAROLINA, INC. SCHOLARSHIP
Application must be typed or written in blue or black ink. Applications must be legible and received no later than April 26, 2013. Late and/or illegible applications will not be considered. Applications are available in guidance.
Applicant’s Requirements
Ø Must be a resident of South or North Carolina
Ø Must be a first-generation college student
Ø Must be either a high school senior accepted to a post-secondary institution (at least part-time) for the fall school year 2013 or a returning college student.
Ø Must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.5
Ø Must provide a copy of official high school or college transcript with application
Ø Must provide college registration and admission documentations
Ø Must submit at least one (1) letter of recommendation from your high school/college faculty or counselor, employer or church leader; and at least one (1) letter affirming that the applicant is the first person in his/her family to attend college.

SUMMER INTERNSHIP WITH NUCOR
If you are a high school senior, plan to major in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, and have been accepted
to the University of South Carolina or Clemson University, this is the internship for you. An interest meeting will be held at The Darlington County School District, Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 6:00pm. To RSVP or for more information, please call, Linda Navorska at 398-2233.
THE MCLEOD VOLUNTEER AUXILIARY SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship offers $500 per semester.
Criteria:
Ø Reside in the Pee Dee area
Ø Plan to study a health-related career at an accredited college
Ø Have at least a 3.0 GPA
Ø Have earned at least a 21 on the ACT of an 800 on the SAT
