SBC REGIONS 13-STATE – NOTICE OF TESTING OPPORTUNITY

SBC is providing notice of an opportunity to test a new service under development by SBC. The new feature is MWI - Alternate Network Delivery (AND), which will become an additional service available with SBC’s current Simplified Message Desk Interface Expanded, (SMDI-E) product. SMDI-E is a data networking service used to send information between a customer’s voicemail CPE and end user/subscriber stations. This new enhancement will offer SMDI-E customers the ability to send Message Waiting Indicator signals from their existing voicemail system to their telephone stations served by SBC as well as the telephone stations served by the SMDI-E customer’s alternate network service.

Because the test will be technical in nature, participating providers are required to own or control a voicemail platform, and must be willing to provision and pay for any necessary facilities and ancillary services such as the underlining SMDI-E service and SS7 services necessary to communicate with the customer’s alternate network.

Additional requirements of the test include:

· SMDI-E MWI Alternate Network Delivery (AND) will deliver SS7 TCAP Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) messages (e.g., operate/remove) to a single, pre-defined SS7 Point Code designated by the customer.

· Any SS7 networks encountered that are necessary for the delivery of the MWI message must be capable, and have an agreement for receiving the MWI message. All MWI messages will be delivered over SS7 links between an SBC STP and the STP of the customer or the customer’s designated SS7 provider.

· The testing period will last 90 days and commence on May 13th, 2005 and will be limited to the five state region of SBC Midwest.

· Prospective participants must be willing to limit traffic to non-commercial purposes, and may not charge end users while participating in the test.

If you have interest in participating in this non-commercial test, please contact Jason Constable, SBC Operations-Standardization on (214) 858-1311. Mr. Constable will be happy to coordinate with you for any necessary arrangements.

SBC reserves the right to make any modifications to or cancel the above test. Should any modifications be made to the test, these modifications will be reflected in a subsequent posting. SBC will incur no liability to the providers if such test, mentioned above, is modified or cancelled, or if the technology tested is not ultimately adopted.
