Romantic Poetry Project!

Mission: To teach the class a poem from the Romantic period.

Requirements- Your presentation MUST include the following:

-The text of the poem (this must be read aloud via a recording (you tube), group member, or volunteer from the class)

-An analysis of the poem including the following:

·  Paraphrase- do this line by line

·  Figurative Language/Structure- (simile, metaphor, personification, et cetera as well as things like parallelism and repetition- discuss the purpose behind the figurative language and structure of the poem)

·  Poet’s Attitude- How does the poet seem to feel about the issue/topic he/she is writing about?

·  Theme- One sentence that describes what the poet thinks about the topic he/she is writing about; themes are universal!!

·  Romantic elements- Which does your poem contain?

·  An activity to engage the class with your lesson (this can be done at any point, but no word banks or crosswords, please! They are an insult to our intelligence!)

Thursday, 4/25: Some class time given

Friday, 4/26: Class time- full period

Monday, 4/29: Some class time given

Tuesday, 4/30: Class time- full period

Wednesday, 5/1: All projects are due! (first 2 presentations will take place on this day)

Effort- it is clear that diligent effort was put into the presentation; the power point is thoughtfully and carefully organized.
Analysis-all parts of analysis are complete; the analysis shows an understanding of the poem beyond the surface level
Oral Presentation- presentation runs smoothly and each group member knows what part of the presentation he/she is responsible for.
Class Activity- the activity is engaging and helps students to grasp the main ideas of the poem
