Alternate Teaching Certification Programs

This Robert Noyce Scholarship is intended for graduating seniors majoring in a STEM field planning to pursue a teaching career in mathematics or science via one of the alternative certification programs listed below. Ideal candidates demonstrate academic leadership characteristics as well as a desire to increase their knowledge of mathematics, science, and/or education. The value of the scholarship ranges from $12,600 to $15,000. Awardees must commit and sign a contract to teach for 2 years in a high-need school district. To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must enroll in one of the following alternate certification programs.

Instructional Notes/ Checklist

1.  Completed applications may be hand delivered or mailed to the Noyce Scholarship Committee, c/o Joseph Meyinsse, Department of Science/Mathematics Education, Southern University, P. O. Box 9256, Baton Rouge, LA 70813-9256. Faxed or emailed applications will not be accepted.

2.  Three completed recommendation forms must be included with the application.

3.  The typed response to the three essay questions (listed below) must be completed and included with the application.

4.  An official sealed transcript must be included with the application.

5.  Incomplete applications will not be considered.

6.  Application deadline: March 31, 2008
