We are now recruiting a Public Health Officer II to join the Fleet Operations team at our corporate offices in Santa Clarita, CA (just north of Los Angeles).
Responsibilities
The qualified candidate will be responsible for conducting public health assessments of operations on board assigned vessels to ensure maintenance of the highest public health standards related to food, potable water and recreational water safety, basic hygiene, communicable illness, and other areas of public health concern. Specific duties will include:
• Monitoring food safety and sanitation procedures
• Collecting water samples
• Preparing written analyses of findings and submitting recommendations for improvement
• Tracking and analyzing industry trends
• Assisting in addressing preventative measures for controlling AGE and other communicable illnesses, and in investigating any outbreaks
• Developing new procedures and policies based on best practices
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, biology, chemistry, microbiology, or related field
• Minimum of 4 years experience in food and water safety, environmental assessments or general public health investigations
• Strong analytical, problem solving, communications, and presentation skills
• Excellent computer skills with the ability to learn and utilize public health software applications
• Extensive international travel is required
• Certification as a Registered Public Health Specialist or Sanitarian is preferred
