WORK EXPERIENCE:

Employed by the Washington Department of Corrections for twenty-five years and retired in 2004 as a Regional Administrator responsible for the prison and community corrections operation in a seven-county region. Previously held positions as Superintendent of four prisons including the Monroe Correctional Complex (the largest facility in the State of Washington), Assistant Director of the Division of Community Corrections, Legislation Project Manager (coordinated the implementation of a new sentencing statute) and various other management, supervisory and case management positions.

In the late 1990’s worked as the Probation Manager for the King County Department of Youth Services while the agency was being restructured. King County includes the city of Seattle and is the largest county in the State of Washington. In 1999 returned to the Department of Corrections after two and one-half years in this position.

After retirement from the Department of Corrections, worked briefly for Correctional Services Corporation as the Associate Warden of the Northwest Detention Center - a facility that holds those being detained as illegal aliens.

Employed, since late 2004, as a Lecturer for Central Washington University (CWU) teaching courses in the Law and Justice Department in adult corrections, juvenile justice, research methods, ethics and criminology at the Lynnwood and Des Moines Centers. Since 1991 worked as an Adjunct Instructor for CWU teaching corrections and other Law and Justice courses.
