Summary of Duties, Responsibilities and Goals
Provides a broad range of cleaning services necessary to maintain the college campus or facility in a clean and orderly condition for effective use by students, faculty and the public.
Essential Functions
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by an individual assigned to this job. Other duties may be assigned.
1. A Cleaning Services Specialist maintains a clean and sanitary environment by ensuring all floor surfaces are maintained properly.
2. Ability to follow instructions and to work with minimal supervision.
3. Assess the condition of floors that need to be cared for, devise methods to spot or extract carpets, clean, buff, or strip, and wax hard floors.
4. Operate floor care machinery such as automatic floor scrubbers, floor machines, and carpet extractors wet/dry vacuums.
5. Perform proper techniques of floor care and preparation of areas to be cleaned, buffed, stripped or waxed as well as carpet cleaning
6. Must follow safety standard procedures
7. Safely moves, sets up, adjusts; desks, tables, and other furniture and equipment as required.
8. Reports any problems, needed repair items or safety situations to supervisor
9. Work effectively and harmoniously with college students, faculty, fellow employees and community members.
10. Services soap dispensers, towel and tissue boxes, and similar fixtures when requested
11. Assist with emergency calls from the Facilities department.
12. Gives information in regards to locations of various campus facilities and otherwise assists students, faculty, and the public using campus facilities.
13. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
The following job accountabilities may be reassigned:
1. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience: 1 to 3 years minimum operating floor care machines and carpet extractors.
Knowledge/
Skill/Ability: Customer service orientation required. Ability to communicate in oral and written English. Safe use of a stepladder.
Other: Valid CA driver’s license. Maintain college’s Authorized driver status. Medium lifting required no physical restrictions, long-standing periods, overtime required.
Must be available for after-hours response.

SALARY STRUCTURE POSITION AND LEVEL: Level 4 as defined by the College Union contract.
HOURS: 5:00pm to 1:30am (hours may change based on needs of College)
