Experience in Commissioned Studies/Consultancies

i. Participated in the preparation of Lead Policy Paper on “Agriculture, Population and Environment Nexus in Nigeria. The paper was commissioned to B-Y Consults by the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA). My activities included desk review of literature, collection of available data, and writing of the report. June 1999 to April 2000.

ii. Member of field researchers that carried out a study on Institutional Strengthening for FADAMA 2 Project. Project commissioned to BDO-OFO, Lagos State, Nigeria. My activities included review of the management processes of the different Departments of the Niger State Agricultural Development Project (ADP) with a view to identifying the constraints to effective performance, administration of questionnaires to some Fadama Users Association and data analysis/writing of report. The activities spanned the period of September to December, 2002.

iii. Field researcher that conducted a survey of FADAMA farmers under Anambra State Agricultural Development Project. My activities included interview of key officers of the Anambra State Agricultural Development Project and visitation to farmers for interview.

iv. Member of a team of multidisciplinary experts working on “Waste to Wealth Project in the University of Ibadan” The project’s title is “Identification and Quantification of Waste in Nigeria”My activities included preparation of the preliminary proposal, review of literature and data analysis. The project was executed between May 2004 and June 2006.

v. Member of a team of multidisciplinary experts that conducted a study on Background Study on Administering A Targeted Safety Net in Nigeria. My activities included review of activities of existing Safety Nets in Nigeria, design of questionnaire and analysis of data for final report. The Study was sponsored by World Bank. The project lasted between October 2005 and March 2006.

vi. One of the team of 4 National Consultant to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on Social and Economic Impact Study of HIV in Nigeria. September 2008- April 2009. Activities included review of HIV/AIDS situation in Oyo State, conduct of FGD with people living with HIV&AIDS and costing of the impact of the epidemic, writing of the final report for Oyo State.

vii. One of the team members that conducted a study/training to some vegetable farmers at the Mokola, Barrack, Ibadan on the use of urine as nutrient supplement for vegetable production. March - June 2009

viii. One of the collaborators with IFPRI team working on “Sustainable Land Management and Institutional Financing in Nigeria”. A workshop was conducted in Abuja on January 25, 2009, where I presented a paper on the “Extent, Trend and Severity of Land Degradation in Nigeria”.

ix. Principal Consultant to the National Fadama Development Office (NFDO) and Project Coordinating Unit (PCU) on “A Study to Define Parameters for a National SLM Knowledge Base and Define Key Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Indicators and System Parameters” March – May 2009.

x. One of the collaborators with IFPRI team working on “Farmers’ demand for seed and the analysis of gaps in the formal seed sector in Nigeria”. August 2009 - February 2010.
