CGE training programme for team of technical experts undertaking technical analysis of biennial updates reports from of Parties not included in Annex I to the Convention

In accordance paragraph 4 of decision 20/CP.19, the Consultative Group of Experts on National Communications from Parties not included in Annex I to the Convention developed a training programme for the technical experts nominated to the UNFCCC roster of experts who, upon successful completion of this training, shall be eligible to be part of the team of technical experts to undertake the technical analysis of submitted BURs. The training programme is now open for registration for the experts nominated to the UNFCCC roster of experts.

Annex II – Course structure and who should take which course?

The table below provides an outline of the structure of the CGE training programme for the TTE. It also indicates who should take which course. “Experienced experts” are defined as those experts on the UNFCCC roster of experts that either participated in any similar activities or undertook similar courses under the Convention and the Protocol. Other experts on the UNFCCC roster of experts that do not fall under this category are defined as “less experienced experts”.

* These modules are mandatory by theme. For example, if an expert wishes to participate in the technical analysis as a mitigation experts,

then, the mitigation module (2.1) is a mandatory for that expert while other two modules (2.2 and 2.3) on GHG inventories and support are

optional.

** An expert wishing to become GHG inventory may more than 1 module in parallel.

*** In the light of some developing country Parties reporting their GHG inventories using 2006 IPCC guidelines for national GHG inventories,

this module is mandatory for trainees taking GHG inventory modules.

**** Having methodological knowledge on LUCF/LULUCF is a precondition. It could be prior knowledge or acquired under this training

programme by taking the LUCF/LUCF module.
