Direct Court Releases/Court Walk-overs
1. Screening processes
a. DAPO’s Regional Reentry Unit will work with the CDCR Legal Processing Unit (LPU) to acquire court sentencing documents needed for LPU to determine if sentenced correctly.
b. Upon LPU’s determination that offender was correctly sentenced to CDCR, the Regional Reentry Unit will screen the offender for Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) eligibility and complete the CDCR 611.
i. If eligible for PRCS, Regional Reentry Unit shall:
1. Contact respective County Probation using list provided by DAI and complete Section V of the CDCR 611 to document county information.
2. Send county CDCR 611 and Abstract of Judgment (any other available sentencing documents.)
a. Send completed CDCR 611 to offenders assigned DAPO Field Unit. DAPO field unit’s Unit Supervisor/Assistant Unit Supervisor shall:
i. Direct Agent of Record to contact offender in order to provide copy of CDCR 611 and instruct to report to County using information on CDCR 611, Section V.
ii. Contact County using information in Section V to provide offender’s reporting date.
2. Absconders
If an offender eligible for PRCS fails to report to DAPO, the Agent of Record will complete an Activity Report (CDCR 1502), documenting the offenders failure to report, and if a prior parolee, provide any available information to assist county in apprehending. The CDCR 1502 will be forwarded to the County, with a second copy of the CDCR 611.
Changing Supervision
In the event an offender already in the community needs to be transferred to a different supervising agency, the following must occur:
1. The current supervising agency shall contact DAI’s Classification and Parole Representative (C&PR) or Correctional Case Records Manager (CCRM) at the releasing institution and request a new Release and Program Study CDCR 611, documenting the change in supervision to either State parole or PRCS.
For DAPO, the Unit Supervisor will request the re-screening of an offender potentially eligible for PRCS via the Regional Reentry Unit, who will subsequently contact DAI.
2. The C&PR/CCRM will ensure a new CDCR Form 611 is completed and notify the appropriate DAPO Reentry Unit and the impacted County Probation Officer of the change; then will fax the pre-release packet to the correct supervising agency.
3. If an offender is to be transferred from DAPO to the County, DAPO field unit’s Unit Supervisor/Assistant Unit Supervisor shall:
a. Direct Agent of Record to contact offender in order to provide copy of CDCR 611 and instruct to report to County using information on CDCR 611, Section V.
b. Contact County using information in Section V to provide offender’s reporting date.
