Boerner Botanical Gardens Welcomes Back Melinda Meyers
(Hales Corners, WI) - Join the Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens as they welcome back Melinda Myers to their Wednesday Night Garden Walk Series!
Wednesday, May 19th is the first of five of Melinda’s From Boerner to Your Backyard Garden Walks, featuring in-depth tours of Boerner Botanical Gardens, part of the Gold Medal winning Milwaukee County Parks System. Join her for a season long look at plants providing color, texture or form that can add beauty to your landscape at different times of the season.
The Boerner Garden Walk series includes:
May 19th 6:30pm - Sunset
Bold Bulbs and Spring Flowers
Get your garden off to a colorful start with bulbs and spring flowering trees, shrubs and perennials. Look for attractive combinations and overlooked beauties.
June 23rd 6:30pm - Sunset
Ground Covers and Vines
This in-between time can be a challenge in the garden. The annuals haven't filled the garden with color and the summer bloomers aren't at their peak. Find out what's blooming so you can help fill your early summer landscape with color.
July 14th 6:30pm - Sunset
Summer Sizzlers
Summer's heat can take its toll on both you and your garden. Take a walk through Boerner to find out what annuals, perennials and summer blooming shrubs sparkle in the summer heat.

Creative Screening with Shrubs
End the summer with a splash of unexpected color. Look for outstanding annuals and perennials to fill in any color and planting voids in the landscape.

Autumn Colors
landscape is starting to change to its autumnal color display. The ornamental grasses and fall perennials are stealing the show. Look for ways to help your landscape season end in a blaze of color.

Nationally known gardening expert Melinda Myers has 30 years of horticulture experience and has written over 20 gardening books, including Can’t Miss Small Space Gardening and Month by Month Gardening in Wisconsin. She hosts the nationally syndicated “Melinda’s Garden Moments” which air on 50 network TV stations in the U.S., including on Today’s TMJ4 in Milwaukee. She is a columnist and contributing editor for Birds & Blooms magazine and hosted “The Plant Doctor” radio program for over 20 years.
Melinda also hosted seven seasons of “Great Lakes Gardener” seen on PBS stations throughout the country. She’s been a columnist and contributing editor for Backyard Living magazine and has written articles for Better Homes and Gardens and Fine Gardening. Melinda has a Master’s degree in horticulture, is a certified Arborist, initiated the Master Gardener program in Milwaukee, and was a horticulture instructor with tenure.
