Monday: 8/18 / Reading/Homework Due:
·  We’ll take a few minutes to discuss the exam and some of the most missed questions.
·  Students will analyze New Kingdom Egypt and the Kush and Meroe civilizations. (Ch. 4.1: p.89-94)
Tuesday: 8/19 / Reading/Homework Due: Read Ch. 3.4 (p.77-82) Optional Reading Ch. 3.3 (p.73-76) over the Phoenicians and pages 62-63 over the Hittites
·  We will discuss Judaism, Phoenicians, and HittitesàAs you read about religions be sure to consider their origins, beliefs and practices, and scriptures.
·  Part of our Judaism discussion will focus on the Ten Commandments and what they reflect about Hebrew society.
Wednesday: 8/20 / Reading/Homework Due:
·  Wrap-up discussion over Judaism.
·  Conrad Demarest Introduction
Thursday: 8/21 / Reading/Homework Due: Read 4.3 (p.99-103) Optional Reading Ch. 4.2 95-98)
·  We will begin discussing several significant empires including the Assyrians and Persians. Be sure to separate your notes into Persian and Assyrian sections.
Friday: 8/22 / Reading/Homework Due: Read Ch. 3.1 and 3.2 (p.63-71)—beginning with Aryans Transform India
·  We will finish our discussion over the Persians and Assyrian Empires.
·  We will discuss the arrival of the Aryans (Indo-Europeans) in South Asia and the development of Hinduism and Buddhism. àAs you read about religions be sure to consider their origins, beliefs and practices, and scriptures.
Monday: 8/25 / Reading/Homework Due: Read Ch. 7.2 (p.193-199) over the Silk Roads (Optional reading Ch. 7.1 (p.189-192)
·  We will continue our discussion of Buddhism and begin talking about the Mauryan and Gupta empires of South Asia.
Tuesday: 8/26 / Reading/Homework Due:
·  We will finish up the discussion of empires and religion in South Asia.
Wednesday: 8/27 / Reading/Homework Due: Read Ch. 4.4 (p.104-109) and
·  We will discuss the Warring States Period, including Confucianism, Daoism, and Legalism, and the development of empire in China (Qin and Han Dynasties).àAs you read about religions be sure to consider their origins, beliefs and practices, and scriptures.
Thursday: 8/28 / Reading/Homework Due:
·  We will continue our discussion of East Asia.
Friday: 8/29 / Reading/Homework Due: 7.3 (p. 200-207)
·  East Asia continued—focusing on the Han Dynasty
Tuesday: 9/2 / Reading/Homework Due:
·  Wrap-up the China discussion.
·  Unit 2 Vocab Quiz
