POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Engineer – B.O.M Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Operations

REPORTS TO: Operations Manager

POSITION SCOPE:

1.  Regularly maintain and update Engineer Bill of Materials.

2.  Review Engineering change orders and update BOM’s as necessary.

3.  Coordinates BOM management with all departments outside of Engineering.

4.  Works with operations and purchasing to coordinate activities.

5.  Coordinates change management tasks with customers and suppliers.

  1. Prepares layouts to determine dimensions and incorporate necessary design features on product of an extremely custom nature.
  2. Details new drawings or modifies existing production drawings.
  3. Prepare Bills of Materials and Coils and Cut Sheets.
  4. Calculates material requirements for various products
  5. Coordinates with purchasing for special materials.
  6. Reviews sales and production orders for correct interpretation and feasibility.
  7. Reproduces prints and complies print packages for individual orders.
  8. Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION

·  4 year degree required and a minimum of 3-5 years mechanical design experience within manufacturing. Sheet metal fabrication experience a plus.

·  Strong communication skills and able to work independently.

·  Self motivated individual and must be able to effectively balance a large work load.

·  Excellent follow-up skills with the ability to follow-through to completion.

·  Proven ability to meet deadlines and to multi-task on multiple projects.

·  Able to read blueprints, understand engineering documents, and work closely with members of the engineering, operations and purchasing team.

·  Systems and creative thinking capabilities

·  Efficient with Microsoft desktop applications (i.e.; Excel, Word, Power Point, Access). and experience in computer-aided drafting and design with particular emphasis on Autocad and Solidworks.

·  Strong understanding of Process Flow,and MRP systems. Understanding of design for all manufacture principals, as well as MRP/ERP systems and Bill of Material generation.

·  Experience in Fourth shift highly desirable.

·  A working understanding of strengths of materials, with the capability of performing design strength calculations very helpful
