POMERANIAN CLUB OF SOUTH WALES 27/10/13

My thanks for a lovely entry of 98 dogs & my thanks to my two ring stewards, Mike Hughes and Alan Jones, who did a sterling job on the day.

I was very pleased with both my line-ups, but I feel mouths have to be taken very seriously , and I am not a mouth fanatic. Also, as from next January open fontanelles have to be reported to the K.C. by all Championship show judges. I would have had a fair few to report, from minor puppies to adults, not acceptable!

Overweight bitches were also a feature today, smaller bowls required please.

Otherwise I feel the breed is generally in good shape if my entry is anything to go by.

My DCC and BCC were as they should be with the bitch being bigger than the dog and both well within the breed standard weight.

Hopefully my B.I.S. winner will put paid to the rumour that I am not in favour of imports and overseas dogs coming to our shores

Veteran Dog: (3, 1 abs). 1st Odd’s Ch.Benlease Barney Rubble Sh.CM. Just over 7 years, lovely bright orange, in excellent order and beautifully presented, shortest of backs and so sound. Very attentive to his handler. 2nd Phillips Playalong Dancing Wolf, 10 years, in good order and enjoyed his time in the ring, his tail never stopped wagging.

Minor Puppy Dog:(5,1 abs) 1st Stone’s Rostellars Billigeesasmarty, just 6 months w/s. Absolutely gorgeous little chap. Looks chunky but certainly is not. Fine boned, cat feet, pulls himself up so well and shows himself to advantage. Lovely on the move and is so sound. Very attractive head and expression. 2nd Odd’s Bumblecorn The Gambler at Trenarwyn. 6 months black, sweet head and expression, nice size, correct bone, makes a lovely shape in stance. Tends to prance in front but hopefully will settle in time. 3rd Smith’s Sueacres Black Swan

Puppy Dog: (9, 2abs + 1 w/d) 1st Orchard & Whitelock’s Tuttsclump Toy Soldier. Just over 9 months outstanding cream, lovely size. He has the prettiest of heads and superb pigment, very typey head with good stop. Fine boned, pulls himself together well, true Pom movement. Best Puppy. 2nd Niven Lewis’ Velvet D’Amour New Love From Rostellar. Almost 1 year and obviously so much more mature than 1. Looks chunky thanks to his massive, thick coat but isn’t once you get your hands on him. Quality head with good stop. Well constructed so moves well, would like him shorter in the back for a male. 3rd Reid’s Pomirosa Peter Pan

Junior Dog (6, 2abs) 1st Adamson’s Sylvid Thistle Do 17 month quality cream. Pleasing head and expression, stands four square at all times, making a lovely outline. Correct coat texture, sound in every way. One to be proud of. Just not in the best of jackets today. 2nd Nolan’s Villenelle Let It Be 13 months pretty cream, nice size, pleasing enough head although a bit full in eye and ears a bit tall. Moved well but lacking in personality for me. 3rd Christopher’s Foxhue Knight of Dreams

Spec.Yearling Dog (8, 1abs) 1st Adamson’s Sylvid’s Thistle Do 2nd Cawthera-Purday’s Belliver Unexpected Destiny. 13 months red sable. Bigger than 1 and so badly behaved on the table. He is well balanced and covers the ground well. 1 much more my type. 3rd Hills’ Casarow’s Monty Python J.W.

PGD (7) 1st Talbot’s Kimmimelas Cisco Kid. 21 months brilliant orange, small compact and stylish lad who caught my eye and did not disappoint in any way. Lovely head, neat ears, beautifully presented today. Stands on tightest of cat feet and is very stylish on the move. So attentive to his handler and full of Pom character. RCC 2nd Sueacres Unexpected Kisses JW. 18months w/s. attractive head, soft expression, super pigment, excellent coat texture. A shade longer cast than 1, but nonetheless a very typey dog, moved soundly and showed well. Time is on his side. 3rd Belcher’s Warleggen Foxmeif youcan for Pomajoy

Limit Dog(5, 1 abs) 1st Stone’s Bilijees Truelee Red. Just over 2 years old o/s. Classic head as expected from this kennel, with good stop. Well put together and moves accordingly. An easy winner here. Well presented. 2nd Belcher’s Warleggen Foxmeifucan for Pomajoy. 22months orange, lovely head and expression. Bigger type than 1 but not heavy boned at all. Owner could do with trimming lessons! 3rd Titchener/Hall’s Tuttsclump Rob the Rebel

Open Dog:(4) 1st Orchard/Whitelock’s Soffies Iceman. My absolute star of the day! Wow factor. He is as close to the standard as I could wish for. Exquisite head with best of pigment, softest expression and tiny ears bang on top. Absolutely everything in proportion. So short in back making a super ball shapeand carries himself as a Pom should. He was in full bloom and I have never seen him show better – all to his advantage. I was delighted to award him his second CC and later B.I.S. Very much my type of Pom. 2nd Terry’s Ir.& GB Ch. Belliver Unexpected Target. O/S stronger type than 1. Correct head and expression. He is in proportion and showed extremely well today. Not in full coat. Moved well in the class. 3rd Cawthera-Purdy’s Ch.Lireva’s Short Sir Kit.

Special Beginners: 1st Ramsey’s Sandchize Quite Gloryious. Just over 2 years, presented in lovely order and enjoyed his day out.

Veteran Bitch (5) 1st Fleetwood’s Ch.Keisyl Tinkerbell by Abbeyleigh. Just turned 7 and looking fantastic on the day. A favourite of mine, sweet head and expression, in full bloom and moved like a youngster. A pleasure to see her again and looking so good, a credit to her owners. 2nd Bibey’s Bilijees Lily of the Valley. 8years w/s in full coat. Moved soundly. Very attractive type and a credit to her owner too. 3rd Allum’s Bilijees Sweet Hope

MPB (6,1abs) 1st Fleetwood’s Abbeyleigh Wind Chime. 6 and half months o/s, small and fine boned. Pleasing head, muzzle clearing nicely. Tiny ears bang on top, very alert. An easy winner here. 2nd Wilding’s Bumblecorn’s Delta Dawn. Orange, quite pretty but her black muzzle detracts and a bit tall in ear. Her movement was a bit erratic but will settle with time hopefully. 3rd Hull’s Gillipom Drivin Miss Daisy.

Puppy B (6, 3 abs) 1st Niven Lewis Rostellar Red Sparkler, clear orange and so pretty. Beautiful head and expression though her pigment could be better. Great coat texture and in full coat with excellent plume. B.P.B 2nd Fleetwood’s Abbeyleigh Wind Chime. 3rd Lewis Bilijees Valentina

Jun.B (6, 3abs) 1.Orchard/Whitelock’s Manatek Fire and Ice. Just out of puppy. Bright orange, by far the best mover in the class. Nice head and expression though a bit tall in ear. Good size, in excellent coat, showed well at all times. 2nd Worthington’s Nyeallstock Tia. Very pretty head and sweet expression. Tiny little girl who showed her head off. Well presented 3rd Phillips Playalong Cherokee

Yearling B (4, 1abs) 1st Smith’s Sidlyn’s Clowing for Joy. 16months, very typey head. Makes a lovely shape in stance but not an overly happy showgirl on the day. Moved well enough to win this class. 2nd Worthington’s Nyellastock Tia. 3rd Elliston’s Bowlou Blonde Assassin

PGB (8) 1st Elliston’s Bowlou Pie in the Sky. 21 months w/s. Top quality show/brood type. Stunning head. In full bloom though presentation could be improved upon. Moved well but handler struggled a bit. 2nd Smith’s Sydlin Clowning for Joy. 3rd Cawthera-Purdy’s Lireva’s The Future’s Bright.

LB (7, 2abs) 1st Worthington’s Cabana Carnival at Nyellastock. 3 years bright orange, good sized show/brood, top quality bitch, prettiest of heads and sweet expression. Built correctly and her stylish movement shows this. Full of life and true Pom personality, lacking in so many. Pulls herself up to make a lovely outline in stance but looks ready for take-off, just how a Pom should be. In full bloom and well-presented. I had no hesitation in awarding her the CC and R.B.I.S 2nd Pike’s Breezelyn Love at First Bite. O/S, stronger head than 1 and would prefer clearer muzzle. Short back and sound both ways. Very attentive to handler. 3rd Slough’ s Pommania’s Sunblushed Parti.

Open B (8, 2 Abs) 1. Cawthera-Purdy’s Ch. Lireva’s To Hell an Black J.W. The prettiest of heads and ears bang on top. Her head has changed so much since I last judged her as a puppy. Lovely shape in stance and as sound as a bell when under control! Just coming into better coat now . So attentive at all times and has that true Pom character that I love. Pressed hard for CC but had to be content with the Res. today. 2nd Reid’s Pomirosa Sweet Magic. 3 and half year old cream. Top quality show/brood. Stunning headpiece, beautifully presented but very overweight. This did not affect her movement, however, and so she thoroughly deserved her place. Very much my type. Keep up the diet. 3rd Cawthera-Purdy’s Ch.Lireva’s Cast An Net
