Planned Homework Syllabus - Weekly Homework Outline

OCEANOGRAPHY- Semester 1 – Fall 2013

Student Initials / Parent / Guardian Initials / Please initial each comment and explain each part to your parent / guardian having them initial it as well.
·  Bring your book to class every day. (Also pen/pencil, highlighter, white out, agenda, and notebook)
·  While this class is an elective, if you are a senior and need the credit to graduate, you must put forth the effort required, or you may not earn enough credits to graduate as planned..
·  Since you can see the whole semester of homework in advance, you can get it all done on time or even ahead of time. Ask for additional forms in advance.
·  There is a lot of reading involved in this course, but there is a lot of time given to complete the reading. Tests / Quizzes are based mostly on vocabulary.
·  While I will try to match the timing of homework topics as closely as possible to what we are doing in the class, this may not always be possible.
·  In addition to Written Homework… Study Vocab on nights where you are done with your written homework 3 times each week (minimum, more if having trouble) and circle them on chart below.
·  I suggest if you want to stay ahead, read over the chapter casually over the weekend it is assigned.
·  Try to complete the questions on or before Monday Night. So you can get help from me if you need it.
·  Ask me to help you either before or after class or after school before it is due on Weds.
·  If you hand it in on Thursday you will get a significant late penalty, but it is better than a 0 (F).
·  Friday we may go over the homework in class, and you may get it back if you handed it in on time.
·  Homework will not be accepted after Friday’s class begins, unless there are significant extenuating circumstances beyond your control. (In other words you get a zero=F.)You’ll have to put more effort into the next assignment.
·  This represents all the planned homework. However, if you fall behind with other work, you may have to complete that at home as well.
·  Assignments will be graded for correctness. The multiple-choice may take time, but are easily figured out using the text you should have read over before attempting the questions.
·  Do not copy or work with other students on homework. Ask the teacher or a parent for help.
