JOB TITLE: COUNTRYSIDE & ECONOMY ADVISER

Requirements / Essential / Desirable
TECHNICAL/ PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS / ·  Practical conservation work and rural skills.
·  Sound knowledge of environmental issues related to the conservation management of the countryside.
·  Knowledge of government departments, agencies and other relevant organisations and their work including grant schemes, financial and regulatory procedures
·  Degree or similar qualification in a subject relevant to the post (or several years directly relevant experience).
·  Experience of liaising and negotiating with land managers, farmers and landowners.
·  Supervision of contracts
·  Enthusiasm and commitment for National Park purposes, environmental issues and rural well-being. / ·  Ability to make on-site assessment of land use and conservation issues.
·  Computer skills, including GIS.
·  Knowledge of livestock and dairy agricultural practices.
·  Knowledge of land use issues and practices, particularly relevant to the Peak District.
·  Knowledge of sustainable land use (energy, water & waste management and renewables)
·  Experience of conservation work, preferably in upland areas.
